I've got about 150 new mf towels! Should I wash them before I use them? They're blue, green, and yellow! Let me know if you don't mind....thanks!

If you are using laundry detergent make sure it's a free and clear version. Dry on low heat and NO laundry sheets or fabric softener. Ideally you should be using a microfiber detergent like Micro-restor or Blackfire microfiber cleaner and restorer. Also, add a cup of distilled vinegar in the rinse cycle, this helps restore softness.

Yeah, I've got a gallon of CG microfiber wash....so you don't put vinegar in right away? You wait for the rinse cycle?

Yeah wait for rinse cycle, or if you washer has the option for a 2nd rinse. The vinegar will remove residual detergent and soften the fibers.

Ok, I'll give it a try...thanks man

I'll also add: Most people use WAY too much laundry detergent. Not just on MFs, in general. But it's even worse for MFs because you probably don't really have a full load of them.

On my HE front-loader, I use like 1cm of detergent in the cup. I'd use maybe double that, tops, for a full load in a top-loader.

Left over detergent will build up in your clothes and MFs and they will lose their softness.

So yes, go with a free & clear detergent, use just a bit of it, and use vinegar in the rinse cycle.

I hear you on the laundry detergent...that stuff is so concentrated...you don't need near as much as they say! How about microfiber wash? Would you use what they recommend? I've got CG mf wash

The cg mf detergent is good. I use cold or low heat and extra rinse cycle. And as others have said, no softeners!

Does anyone know why its best to wash them or why?

To get rid of any loose threadrs in the towel and the fact that the ones I get from AG are never in a package, so for all I know, they are full of dust or debris.

Its good practise to wash them because you dont know if any debris or other material got on the MF towel prior to shipping to you, potentially marring/scratching your paint.

The only MF towels I dont wash right away are Meguiars Ultimate Wipe towels, they come individually sealed in a plastic bag.

To wash away anything leftover from manufacturing, packaging, processing, and to remove already loose fibers.

I know traditional towels will also have antifungal chemicals and fabric softeners in them.

EDIT: I type way to slow, yall beat me to it

You may want to seperate the colors. I washed a brand new gold jr with some new black towels. The gold is now lime green.
