Questions about CG Blacklight

I felt the same way about claying how I felt I needed to wash after. I clayed today and did something I never normally do. I wiped the residue after I was done with that spot. Lol don't laugh. I've always just clayed the whole car without wiping so by the time I was done the spray detailer was pretty much baked on lol. Yeah some times I'm as sharp as a hardboiled egg

Welp I did it - just the hood last night.
Washed with heavily diluted CG Eco Wash. I went ahead and polished with Meg Ultimate polish to get some really faint scratches out that I noticed - I figure that would also remove previous wax left on the car if any...

Applied black light, waited 30 minutes, took it off, looked good, however, I honestly, couldn't tell a visible difference from before and after. Waited another 15 minutes or so then applied a layer of Meg Ultimate liquid wax, waited 5 minutes, took that off, again no difference.

So, at the end of the day, looks good and I suppose there is now a good bit of lasting protection - was hoping for some night and day visible difference on the paint, unfortunately, didn't see that. Maybe next time I'll do a strip of tape down the center and try to get a better before and after side by side for my own mind to be at ease that I have actually accomplished something :-)
 
Not sure if this was discussed but you can polish with blacklight as a final step as opposed to just letting cure and wiping off. It does have fine abbrasives in it and the feel of the panel after polishing with it on a DA is unreal.
 
Mac is right, you can do a very light polish with blacklight. I just used it the other day for a guy that wanted something quick for his black nsx as he was going to a car show. He'll be back for a more in-depth polish but the results weren't bad. Topped with v7

I'm of the belief that BL doesn't last very long, depending on how the user washes of course. But it can provide some nice results in a very short amount of time.

Blacklight and Hybrid V7 is a great combo! I use it on my cars and up to this point it still hasn't let me down at all.
 
^^ True. All black cars i detail get an application of Blacklight.

If a customer wants protection rather than appearance; they get BFWD sealant

Does that mean your of the opinion that you get the best look via Bl ? .. Nevermind protection?
 
To be honest this product does very well on protection wise

I love the smell of this product and ease of use. I save it for the jobs where I just want that extra pop, or a quick rejuvinating shine. Worked great on my Kawasaki green Ninja. A lot of people ask, "Well what really is blacklight?" I've come to the conclusion that it is definitely it's own thing but can be summed up as a glaze with minor abrasives.

I used it after a polish on this Mercedes followed by a Lusso Oro carnauba paste wax, and final V7 wipe down. Results were killer!

I haven't noticed any correction on my vehicles but I have seen people report some on softer clears on the forum like hoo posted earlier.

We bought a used black Explorer a few months back and after getting off all the dealership gunk they slapped on it, I decided to try the CG Black Light on a black vehicle for the first time since it wasn't my "winter prep." I applied it with DA and finishing pad and waited the recommended time to top it. I hadn't seen anybody mentioning topping it with Optimum Car Wax so I gave it a shot since its easy and I like the look. The Black Light didn't do much but hide swirls and that's what I was expecting. A maintenance wash and rain or two and I was wanting to polish and wax it. It did look great while it lasted though!

Like some have said, if you view it more as a glaze and less as a "sealant" your expectations will likely be met. That being said, I probably won't be purchasing BL or v7 again.

This is a shot after the process I mentioned above. :)
