You gotta love the shape of a rental car, even when the rental agent "just" ran the car thru the carwash and is giving you the best one on the lot.

Wife needed a car while her truck was in Cadillac for some maintenance. Of course, being Thanksgiving week the choice was limited to an Impala. Rental agent disappeared for 20 minutes to clean it up before our use. Here is the pics as received:

So with a bit of challenge from the wife, I set out on a quick clean-up so at least running errands meant I did not stand out like a sore thumb.

Products:
1. Amazing Roll-Off (tires)
2. P21S Wheel Cleaner (wheels and barrels)
3. Daytona Wheel Brush (barrels)
4. Sonax Gloss Shampoo (washing)
5. Foam Gun (pre-soak)
6. Blackfire Spray Sealant
7. Stoners Invisible Shine
8. DP Tire Gel
9. DP Plex-All (headlamps/taillamps)
10. Glass Science Rain Repellant

No sooner than I was done doing the spruce up and literally putting everything back in its place, we received a call the truck was ready and to come back when ready. Needless to say I got a ribbing from wife thru the holidays, but someone is driving a clean rental.

In review all the products used won't break the bank, do exactly as offered, and best off all worked well in unison to amp up a rental car. Now this car was far from perfect, but breaking out a polisher wasn't in the cards for a quick holiday makeover. Some of the included products should be staples in your detailing cabinet.

It is nice to have a clean vehicle. We get spoiled.

Blue is a fairly rare color for Impalas. The life of a rental car.

Thats just too funny :D (not the fact u washed a rental car but that they called as soon as u were done!)

Ive cleaned up rentals too. I like to drive clean cars and when Im driving it, its mine. If I borrow a friends car I always bring it back washed, vaccum, door jams, windows tires dressed and spray wax . There is a friend that wants me to bower his car even when I dont need too.

I saw those episodes of Top Gear when they had that CSI guy do tests on the interior of used cars. Dude, you have every reason to at least clean the interior of a rental.

Nice work.

At the very most I would have just taken it to the local full serv car wash.To me washing a rental by hand is like meeting the parents of a "one night stand".But it was your time, effort, and products. The car looks incredible, they should have given you a discount on the rental or the work on your Cadillac.

I'd bet the rental guy ran it through the automatic car wash after you brought it back and messed it all up.

I used to be a manager for a car rental company and drove rental cars as part of my compensation. I would actually pick, wash, and clean my own cars most of the time. Some of the other managers and service agents thought I was crazy.

Say it ain't so... :D

I would have done the same thing. Well, if my girlfriend didn't know what I was doing....

I wonder if the rental guy was shocked...

Nice work with the rental! I've had a few of them in the past when my car was in the shop for some repair work. I also tend to view them as a "blank canvas" to try different things - heck, I practiced/refined my rotary skills on a few rentals.

LOL That was really funny. Is the rental agent really clean that car or he just only said that it was clean... LOL.. Good job for that car.

So what was the reaction from the rental company when you returned it?

He looked at in quite a strange fashion, as if "I dont remember it leaving in that way", but never said a word. One time I am going to purposely forget to add fuel and see if they call it even or still try to bill me for it.

Its funny how we feel this way isn't it? yet the car probably blended in with society better when it was dirty. I guess that means there are a lot of sore thumbs on the road haha. In reality it stands out more after the job you did, it looks great! :xyxthumbs:
