Quick review - DodoJuice Blue Velvet

I bought some Swissvax Saphir...couldn't be happier. The Blue Velvet went in the trash.
 
I've used rainforest rub,Bannana armor,Purple haze and supernatural many times and it was easy to use did and not mute flake and produced one hell of a shine as is alot better compared to alot of waxes in the same price ranges.I have tried to post pics because of this thread but this website will not let me upload for some reason.

I have bothe Blue Velvet and Purple Haze...(I have a Black 2008 Vette)....Used Poor Boys Black Hole Glaze first, then I applied the BV and then PH...great depth, shine and beading...applied both Dodo's with a foam applicator and removed with microfiber...

Couldnt be happier with my results... :D
 
So what do you guys think about the claims of color specificity of use such as "...Orange Crush, a soft wax that breathes even more warmth into yellow, orange and red colored cars.", or that Banana Armor was, "...was specially created for warm coloured paintwork, including warm coloured metallics." (Quotes for the Dodo USA website) It sounds like marketing hype to me. But I could be wrong.

What do you guys who have used it think? Could this be plausible?
 
Yeah i got some of the Dodo Supernatural the other week, and tried it against the Nattys Wax i was using and didnt really see a big difference to off-set the $100 difference in price!
 
I have the Soft Four Test Tube, with Orange Crush,Purple Haze,Rain Forrest Rub,and Light Fantastic. I have only used 2. The Orange Crush was used on a 1967 Cuda,yellow. I applied it by hand literally. It did feel like there was some grit in it,but the results were GREAT! Easy off,plenty of gloss and shine. The customer said the durability was good also. I use the Light Fantastic on my detail truck. Applied by hand. These waxes are right up there with Souveran and Fusion IMO!

Swissvax sells a product specifically for black cars...even comes with plastic gloves so you don't get it on your hands. I will certainly testify that Purple Haze has Mouton Wax in it (often used in black shoe polishes) as the web site states. It is absolutely stunning on my black car. (See earlier thread "mixed the best together" for other results.)

Swissvax makes great stuff, probably the best out there. But the question is, is it better enough to justify the massive cost differential? If you are working on a car worth more than my house, probably so.

I don't know...any colorant in the wax, it seems to me, would cloud and even distort the pigments in the paint. Now, I will trust you that it looks great on your Black car. But I don't know about the other colors...I would think that it would a )be such a small amount of pigment as to make no difference, or b) be just opaque enough to distort the flake or pop of the paint. Still seems bogus to me...the specific wax for specific colors.

Any others care to weigh in?
 
It is not a "colorant" in a manufactured sense like "Color-Match". It is a naturally occurring wax that happens to be very dark. Many of the best waxes, including Swissvax, make products that are specifically tailored to light or dark colors.
 
One thing you have to remember about these products, everyone has an opinion and depending on your prep or the manner in which you apply everyone can get a different outcome. Whats important is to respect everyone's opinion, and then they will respect yours.:grouphug:
Dodo makes nice waxes I have not tried them all but most of them, and I really find them easy to apply but I have not tried Purple Haze yet, I will put it on my to do list....:cheers:

ive tried the banana armour,orange crush,hard candy,blue velvet, all have had awsome results, shine, very easy to apply and remove, the beading, and the smell. im a DODO customer for life...
 
I have the jimmy hendrex PH wax and love it on my black saab.
 
I few tweets back and forth with Dodo Juice (have to love a company on twitter and uses it), they said it was probably the wax re-crystallizing. I could have explored more into the issue, but I didn't have the wax anymore.
