Quick Review:Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant

Well, I ordered some while it was on sale. I'll do my own comparison with the Ultima :-)

Seeing this review, made me decide to pick some up and try it for myself.

have you had a chance to try it? Great stuff and the 4oz bottle will last for years to come if you detail personal vehicles.

Have you had a chance to compare the 2. I do have the Ultima as well but I save it for tires. Its a bit tougher to get off of the paint if you get it on there.

I am very new to this detailing thing but this is my favorite product so far.

I am very pleased with this sealant, works great on my F-150 trim no runs.

I applied it to my trim on my 09' RAV and man the seals around the windows look brand new, they weren't in bad shape to begin with but once I applied it I could see a big difference.
Dries well, not oily, no runs, perfect:)
Best part about it is that it will last a few months, not a week like most others.

I just picked this up on sale too, but haven't had a chance to try it. I currently use black-wow on my trim. I love the look and durability of BW, but it takes me a while to spread it on sparingly and tape doesn't stick to where it's applied, so I can't tape when polishing.
Will tape stick to trim treated with WGETS? Looking forward to when my trim needs to be treated again.

I don't know if the tape would stick to the sealant but my guess it wouldn't.
Not a big deal because if and when I polish I'd remove the sealant to clean my trim really good then add another coat after polishing.

It spreads very easy, if you get some on the paint no big deal, it wipes off very easy.
It rained here and noticed good beading on the trim.
What I love the most about the WGTS is the trim isn't too shiney, it leaves you with a natural look. :dblthumb2:

WGTS is awesome. LD

It works very well and beads water like crazy.

UPDATE AND THOUGHTS.....

interesting product for sure. i applied my first coat a few months back before winter. got a nice day today, so i thought i would inspect my trim on the xterra. this stuff did hold up very well! remember we are talking months not weeks. so i did another coat today. hit all the exterior trim again. and there is enough it. believe me. after the task at hand, the trim came around again. nice even sheen. not shiney or glossy. just right. a few drops really does go far. i would say maybe 1/2 to 3/4 left in the 4oz bottle. i use a foam applicator. i should be good to go till my spring detail. and wanted to add...it really does bead water.

I put a coat on all my exterior trim on a 2014 Ford Focus last week. Seems to apply and look very similar to the Ultima. I don't know about longevity yet but will keep you posted. Seems to be a tad darker after being applied than the Ultima and the WG may be ever so slightly thicker (only slightly).

Honestly I'd say if you already have Ultima I'd use it up then try the WG and see how you like it. But if your like me and like to try different things you'll have a long wait before you use up a full bottle of Ultima since a bottle last forever.

Just used it again on my truck love this stuff, I would say I am refreshing once a month. As I stated before if you have a pickup with the bed caps this products does not run down the sides when wet.

I wonder how this stuff would do if say you applied a coating over it like

OptiCoat or PBL Diamond Surface Coat or Cquartz etc... ???

Got me curious

Feed back please

Quick questions, why would you have a coating like PBL, OC, or Quartz on plastic or rubber

Quick questions, why would you have a coating like PBL, OC, or Quartz on plastic or rubber

These products all say designed to coat everything, including Glass, Plastic, Rubber trim etc..

So my thought was I wonder if after cleaning and applying WG Trim Sealant since it has to re applied after x amount of months.. Why not put something more permanent over it such as Opti Coat, PBL Diamond Coat etc .. would it give better protection from the sun/uv apply another barrier over the sealant to keep it from breaking down as fast.

Not sure how well it would turn out for the long term but seems like if the above brands recommend coating plastic or rubber along with the rest of the car that putting one of these coatings on after restoring your trim with the trim Sealant it would protect the trim longer ..... hmmmm?

Has anyone tried putting it on rims like it shows on the website?

I did on my RAV, it was OK, I'm sure it gave me some protection but I'll remove it and apply WGGPS for added protection.
Just didn't like it on my wheels as I did on my paint.
