Just got a new 2019 RAM 1500 in Flame Red. It’s actually a nice 45° day here in Pennsylvania so I want to give it a quick once over to protect before I can do a good detail on it in the spring. I have PNS, Collinite 845 and a few other things sitting around, or I could just do a quick polish with HD Speed and top it with 845. Any suggestions for what I’m trying to accomplish?

PNS is great and IMO is the closest water behavior to a coating. I like it because it goes on fast. 845 is okay but not as long lasting as 476 which is what I like in terms of hybrid sealants. I do love HD Speed for everything but longevity to my vote is to use that but to top it with either PNS or 845.

Is it ok to top HD Speed with PNS? I remember reading somewhere that you couldn’t it PNS on top of anything.

I would go with PNS. Cause of temps I think it's the easiest to apply. This will also get you through the winter months. Then do the prep and polishing when spring comes.

Mike Phillips on Autogeek does top with PNS after an AIO. On his personal car and have seen he do it on top of HD Speed too.

Edit: LOL I was just on the Autopia forum and switch over to here. So the answer might seem a little strange LOL.

But yes it's fine to top Speed with PNS.

Great! Thank you! Sorry for not searching, but I am on a tight schedule and want to get this done. Anybody use HD Speed with a megs MF finishing pad?

HDSpeed and then wipe off using the PNS like Cruz does with Essance

I did mine today (NJ). Put down FK1000 as the base coat and will top with 845 tomorrow. That should be near bullet proof. These will be the sacrificial layers above the paint coating I did in summer.

PNS is quick, Collinite is more work on a cool winter day(I have used both n PNS goes on easy)

If you are going to polish and seal again this spring then personally I’d look in something like Hydro Blue. 845 is awesome but I prefer FK1000p,never used PNS but I’m tempted. When the ease of the SiO2 sprays it’s hard to not stick with them.

I vote HD Speed + 845, but HD Speed + PNS is still a solid choice. I chose an AIO + 845 on my personal car this winter

I'd do a either a quick polish with 3D One or M205 on a blue Buff and Shine polishing pad. Two, maybe three quick pass max, and follow with you favorite sealant of choice.

Or I'd do an AIO with strong protective qualities like Duragloss 101.

I just gave the Buick another coat of Collinite 845 and it is more difficult to work with in the winter time. My garage is insulated but not heated and the temperature is around 42 F. The Collinite has a tendency to congeal and I have to heat it up once in a while to keep it fluid. I am still waiting for Autogeek to come out with the Collinite heater. ;)

I have two little kids and a third on the way. I bet a baby bottle warmer would work nicely with 845. My bottle in my garage is rock solid now. I usually put it out on my driveway in the summer when I start a wash and it’s ready to go by the time I’m done with clay.

For a quickie I am down w the hydro blue or similar camp. Can’t beat the ease.

I am rolling with 845 on the daily outsider this winter.
I don't remember it being all that bad to work with when chilly.
Pretty sure I did a middle winter recoat once(in the 40s)and just had to shake the bottle more. Putting it on thin was the key.

After 2 weeks I washed and used BlackfireSio2.
Two weeks later it was ECH20/Reload as a topcoat. Man that stuff is wicked. I wish I would have started using it earlier.

I was going to wash today but it rained and didn't want to pull the other car out to get wet.
Next wash it will be Sonax BSD.

I get by easy because I am always using a topper.
