Quickest method of paint correction for production work.

This might be a dumb question, but is it bad to work a larger area such as an entire door or half a hood instead of sticking to a smaller area at a time?

No, in fact, you should try this. Always experiment with what your limits are, especially if you need to work as fast as you can while achieving the desired results. A lot of guys here have blinders on and are process driven and only see one way to get there. You, however, seem like you might want to be "results" driven, and need to learn the quickest way to get there considering the work environment you are in. Different products will have different limits. Get to know them and you'll be more confident.

Working an area much larger than the width of your shoulders causes a couple of things to happen

- Your back gets tired quicker

- It is harder to maintain consistent downward pressure

- Polish tends to dry out quickly, limiting the # of passes you get

- You tend to tip the machine at the outer edges of a large section

- The further you move the machine from your body; the less.control you have over the machine

- DAT polishes may breakdown before you adequately polish a large section

- I also get more dusting of I try to compound too large of an area
