R.I.P. Dan Wheldon

Sad news indeed, but this is the risk that all drivers must be prepared to face . He was an excellent driver, and died doing something that he loved.

My prayers are with Wheldon Family....so sad...
 
I was watching the race live. That was the most horrifying in car footage I have ever seen. My prayers are with his wife and two children and all of the IndyCar family.
 
even though i dont watch racing or know who he is may he rest in peace. im not a church/god person so he will be in my thoughts as i dont wish death on anybody. hope his family is holding strong for him.
 
Terrible crash, 3 cars airborn....I have seen accidents in racing like this so many times and the drivers mostly walk away, unfortunately that did not happen today. A huge loss to motorsports. Classy coverage by ABC, reminded me of when Earnhardt died at Daytona. Thoughts go to Wheldon family and friends. Life and racing will go on.

Classy decision by the rest of the drivers to stop the race and give a five lap honor to him.
 
Motor racing is a cruel sport, sometimes the cruelest sport.

I once was a huge fan of Indy car racing until recently and have watched tons of races and seen many wrecks. This is the most violent and terrible crashes I have ever seen. I read where the practice speeds at Vegas were in excess of 225 mph and thats crazy fast! Hope the Indy Car Family will survive this terrible loss.
