Raceglaze 55 vs Black Label??

I don't think anyone would buy a wax based on a perceived high % of carnuba only. However, I don't think it makes a lot of sense just to discount a product completely because of such claims.

For example, Zymol makes some waxes "designed"/marketed for Porsche, Italian Cars, Jaguars, etc... We all know there is little merit to this.... But, they are also some top notch waxes, regardless. Same with Swissvax.

Or,

You could look at all the hype on Chemical Guy's website. It makes little sense how they promote every product as the "best" or have girls in bikinis detailing cars. However, they do make some excellent products.

The actual carnuba content in any wax doesn't really matter. But if its a great wax, as many who have used RG 55 & BL claim, who cares what the label says or how they market it?

Unfortunately...
There aren't, for the time being, regulatory administrations/commissions that require the
'Labeling-Accuracy' of Consumer Products...such as waxes. So:

Hearsay, or not: Is the marketing, for car-care products, ever disingenuous?

-55-66% Carnuba by volume, being Raceglaze's claim to fame in this instance...IMO:
Is hard to determine to be the actual 'mathematical-number' without also knowing
the % of all the other ingredients---by volume...in these, or any other wax-products, for that matter.

-Nowadays, carnuba is used mostly as a carrier, and that only a small part of: "The Look"...that wax produces...
Is from the actual content of the carnauba. The rest of: "The Look" is from the other ingredients.
I also keep in mind that the wax itself is rather inexpensive.

-Which causes me to often ponder:

'HMMM...Why pay more (sometimes obscenely more!!!) for a wax-product that boasts of
having the highest content...of one of the cheapest ingredients...as the mainstay of their particular wax formulae'
.

Again...Hearsay, or not (and irregardless):
No one ever has to be heretical...
But marketing-practices/marketers often seem to be apostatical...

Or should disingenuity be viewed as the "New Religion"?

I'm certainly far from a chemist, but I get 4-5 months protection from 2 coats of Raceglaze 55 on a car that unfortunately has to stay outside in the New England winter. That pleases me very much, in both appearance and durability!:)

I'm probably just going to try the 55 since price wise it makes more sense. There can't be that much of a difference.

the fact of the matter is that, it doesnt matter what % carnauba is in the wax, and any claims are bs, most quality waxes contain around 40% nuba iirc when measured properly, but what matters is how the wax performs for you on your intended paintwork, nuba % is a cheap marketing ploy

I guess no one has tried both, lol. Which was the original question

I heard a rumor once that the RG 45 & 55 were made by Victoria. Could be completely bogus

Has anyone tried either of those and Vic's Red?

Regardless of the marketing of carnuba percentages, I think its pretty safe to say RG 55 & Black Label are great waxes, as I've seen multiple favorable comments on both.

Of course, some will still insist that a $200 wax is just $20 worth of wax and $180 worth of hype.

Yes, I will. And I would like to do business with anyone who does not believe that it Hype or whatever.

hell, i get my value by putting my swissvax into black label containers. black label is right at the top in my carnubas and whether it has 66 % or none it is a joy to use on these miserable oregon days. thank you ken for the tip on it and the product itself.

^^^You're on the right track^^^

And if you mean:
Besides the $400.00 difference between Raceglaze's: "55" and "Black Label"??

Then I'm going to agree with the following post and add: 'NO...It's just marketing BS'!
nuba % is a cheap marketing ploy

^^^Funny or not^^^....
You'll never find me spending ~ $160.00 for Raceglaze's "55"...

In fact...
The last "Black Label" I purchased was a Carling's...

And it's price-point was a lot less than the ~ $560.00 that must be tendered for Raceglaze's "Black Label".

Not to be derogatory in any way, but every forum has "that" guy, and you just happen to be him :)
