I have a Ragg Topp kit in the cabinet that I got for my 2008 MINI Cooper convertible. I use rinseless or waterless* on all my cars; it’s been years since I did a two bucket wash. So should I bite the bullet and do a hose wash and use the Ragg Topp cleaner? Or is there a way to get it clean enough without that to apply the protectant?

Should you bite the bullet?
IMO: Yes.

I also recommend following the advice,
products, and methods that are outlined
quite thoroughly, in the link provided in
the below posting by Mike Phillips, to
clean/dry/protect “rag tops”:

Just to chime in....

Hi Al, I know you're asking about how to take care of top when NOT washing and I agree, a combination of vacuuming and a Tornador Blow Out Gun and even a Lint Roller are good options.

But.... for all the people that may find this thread in the future that are going to wash their car's cloth top... I put a lot of time, pictures, work and "technique" into this how-to article...

Washed today. Remembering why I moved on to rinseless. Hate doing two bucket. But used the cleaner and waiting for it to be fully dry to apply the protectant.
