**Random photos of anything... (that YOU have taken)**

Do any of you folks have experience taking pictures of the moon? I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ4.

Every picture I take comes out blurry and really bright. I heard that what I need is to set the focus to infinity or something? How do I do that?

Are you using a tripod? Do you have manual control on that camera?

I have a tripod yes. How would I know if it has manual control? I looked around in the settings and didnt see anything like that.

Did some googleing. It looks like it can focus to infinity. But I do not know how to enable it.

I have been trying follow guides online. I can set the shutter speed and ISO and such.

Last time I took shots of the moon. I set the aperture to around 11, and had the shutter speed around 25 secs, and iso around 200. I'm trying to find the photo now.

Found one that I took with my 55-250 when I started a year ago. It was cropped.

The moon is bright. Normally need settings that are like those used in late daylight. Only moonrise may need a tripod/beanbag.

Here are two examples.

IMG_0766_C looks b/w but really is color.

  • Hand held
  • Tv 1/1250 (yup, fast!)
  • Av 5.6
  • ISO 400 (modestly fast)

FullMoon_Denver_3-8-12 used a tripod.

  • Tv 1/13 (fairly slow)
  • Av 8.0
  • ISO 3200 (quite fast)

If your pics are all white and blurry, you need to set the speed much faster!
Try starting with:

  • Tv 1/500
  • Av 6.3
  • ISO 100

Nice! I had 55-250 when I had my T2i. Preforms great for its price.

Just to say, I really enjoy the pictures you all are posting.
