Rcvd New Poorboys kit. No idea where to start.

OK, got the clay. Now I'm seeing why detailing is so confusing for the novice. Many of the products that do the same thing have different names. Like with this clay kit it has a detailer spray, but it's to be used as clay lube. Then the swirl removers and compounds. Cleaners and polishers, waxes and sealants.

Am I getting close? Oh, and got me one of those mini Mothers too. Can't wait to work my ass off this weekend.

Gotta get the ride ready to take the wife to the mountains for our 25th. Anniversary.

Yeah the terms can get confusing. Alot of them are used interchangeably. Congtratulations on 25 years! That's amazing! :applause: Happy Anniversary. :)

Thanks. Well, you know I coudn't wait until this weekend so I went out to do a trial run on my hood since the hood and roof have the most rain spots and oxidation. I went by the book, Did the Meguiars clay kit, then two passes with the SR2.5 and one pass with the SR1.0. It did remove some oxidation but it's not really much better than when I was using Turtle Wax wash and Nufinish. I still see rain spots too. Maybe it will last longer though. Or maybe I need to keep polishing?

Is there a set number of times I should apply the SR2.5 and SR1.0? I didn't wax it yet. Was planning on finishing it all this weekend. I'll try to take some pics soon, but I don't think it will show much if any.

I also have some Meguiars #6 and #9, should I try those? I don't expect it to look new being 9 years old but I was hoping to get rid of most of the oxidation and spots.

The #9 will remove any oxidation you have. That stuff cleans the paint until it squeaks! Just be careful with your trim, it stains.

I thought it might. I've been using it for guitar finish repair for years.

Just wondering what pads you were using with the SR2.5 and 1.0?

The orange with the 2.5 and white for 1.0. Not sure what brand, but the ones that come in this kit. Should I buy a yellow pad?

I'm going to try the orange pad and Meguiars #9 this weekend to see how it works on the oxidation ans water spots.

No, I don't think there's a need for the Yellow pad. I don't think there are too many here who use the Yellow pad.
You're right, give it another go with the Orange pad and Megs #9.
Good luck with the rest of your detail. And of course don't forget :Picture::)

Good thing to know about the yellow pad. Thanks I might get one for my windows. Someone on here posted that it works great for polishing off water spots. So far nothing else has worked.
