Hey everyone! I applied CQUK to my mom's '09 Toyota Venza last week and loved it. The car looks amazing and beads water like nothing I've used before. Love it. Anyway, I noticed that even after washing the small orange applicator cloths, they are stiff because of the product hardening on them before washing. I still have 15 ml of the CQUK left and am going to apply it to my brother's Corolla, but am wondering if it's safe to re-use the cloths. Anyone have experience with CQUK and using those cloths a second time? Feed back please

You should never reuse the MF suede towels that are used for application. They will scratch the paint if they have hardened coating on them.

If you are talking about the orange applicator sponge you can reuse that because you wrap it in the MF suede towel.

Nope, you might as well turn around and try using a scotchbrite pad. You chuck those MF Suede Sheets, and never look back.

Throw the used applicator cloths away.

If you need more, purchase them from CarPro. They sell them in packs of 10.

You can also use cotton applicators, those circular things chicks use for makeup. They do absorb a little too much product fyi

I rinse them immediately after use with water. They turn out good as new after an hour of drying. Have never had one harden or scratch the surface after use.

buy the 8x8 suedes and cut them into 4x4's...

Absolutely not. They harden. In fact, you should be using 3-5 suedes per car.

Mark, is that using UK? I can re-use mine for Finest and for Americoat, but for UK, no. I do the same thing with them that I do with them for the others: I immediately spray them with LATA and throw them in my bucket of wash water that I keep for that purpose. They all harden up with UK. That's one of the reasons I don't like it as much as AC, plus, you need to keep changing them to make it work well so you waste a lot of them.

Better yet by the 16" x 16" ones in a 10 pack for $19.99.

Buying only 10 in the 4" size you pay what, $12.99? That is $1.30 EACH!!!!!!

Buying the 10 pack of the largest ones you can make ONE HUNDRED SIXTY 4" applicators at a cost of 12.4¢ each! :dblthumb2:

Not to mention you can cut them in 8" squares that'll make some nifty, lint free glass cleaning cloths. :D

The biggest ones are 16x16, right? So that is 4-4x4 per 1-16x16. A pack of 10 16x16 would yield 40 4x4 (4 x 10 pack). Unless the largest ones you are talking about are bigger than 16x16. 40/$20= $0.50 for each 4x4. :xyxthumbs:

Thats true you can make more with the 16x16 but I've found as soon as you start cutting them up, the edges start to fray and fall part. At least with the 8x8, once you cut them up, 2 sides remain intact.

I have both types -- they are not the same material.

The large 16x16 ones are of a different material.

I use them for opti coat opti glass and dp paint coating. Never used them for cq.

Makes sense.

CQ org & CQUK I find will harden in the cloth no matter what I try.

No matter if its $1.30 per of $.12 IMO the cost is minimal and worth it to make sure application goes properly.

One 16x16 pack will make 16 4x4 squares. Making a total of 160 squares in a 10 pack.

It was late... brain fade perhaps ;)
But; a single 16" will make 16 - 4" applicators. (4x4=16 or 16÷4=4 in both x&y axis which is back to 4x4=16)

Lay out the grid, its 16. :)

But if they only made 12, that'd be 12 per cloth, times 10 cloths =120 applicators. :)

I've never had that problem actually.

I use "pinking shears" that cut a zigzag pattern as well. But you can find shears that'll cut all sorts of edges at the craft store. I'm sure we have some around here that'll do that scalloped edge (in a set of 2 dozen or more my wife has) but my Mothers old heavy duty pinking shears do the trick.

On another note....

As for the cloth being different on the 4" from the other sizes.

The last time I used OEM 4" squares was over a year ago and the 16" was identical back then. (Which is why I started cutting my own.) :D

As everyone said "toss them after use"

The suede application clothes are the best method of applying those coatings.

I take a very soft sponge about 2.5 by 4 inches and put it in a thin plastic bag, then wrap the suede cloth around it. That keeps all the product on the suede cloth where it belongs. After use just throw the suede clots and the baggie in the trash. And your really soft sponge is ready for it's next use.

Hahaha lmao nope, no brain fart on your end...it was on my end  Now I get to say it was late...:D :xyxthumbs:

I got it once you said lay out the grid, that makes lots of sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain it and clarify :xyxthumbs:

It makes 4 on each axis like you said, and 4x4=16. Thanks man!!!
