Hi,
Some fews months ago,I make search on the forum,I ask questions,I listening videos to learn the good technics to detailling a car. So,I'm ready to detailling my first car...a Kia Rio5 2006 black.

I inspect The paint and she have light and medium swirls,no scratch and he have the hood and a left door is not the factory paint.look my preparation he I want make:

#1:wash and dry
#2:claying
#3:swirl remove
#4:polishing
#5:waxing

I have ordering M205 and M83,Riccardo claybar,NXT tech wax.

my question:

On the the hood and the door with no OEM paint does I work my PC the same way to OEM paint or the clear is too slim??I'm very scary and nervous is my car!!:buffing:

Can help me please??

Do a test section on the OEM part starting with your least aggressive method first, if you are not getting your desired results you will have to step up to a more aggressive polish and/or pad combination.

Do a separate test section on the repainted panels, again starting with the least aggressive pad and polish first, if you are not getting your desired results you will have to step up to a more aggressive polish and/or pad combination. They are 2 different paints so one may be harder or thinner than the other.

If you had to step up to a more aggressive polish and/or pad combination you will likely have some micro marring or haze left behind. If this is the case you will want to step back down to your least aggressive polish/pad combination to remove the haze and gloss things up. Good luck on your first detail.:dblthumb2: :Picture:

:iagree: Follow Tuscarora Daves advice.

It is likely that the re-painted panels have thicker paint than the OEM panels. Test spots are the only way you can really know whats going to work for you.

Post some pics when your done!

I just did my first detail myself. I have an 06 black infiniti fx35. I'm in the same boat as you. Researched for months and purchased a bunch of products from here. I finally went ahead detailed it on Monday and it came out amazing. Don't be nervous. The PC is very user friendly. I had no experience with detailing and it still came out amazing. These are my steps.

1. Wash and clay with Meguiars.
2. M105 w/ Orange pad and M205 w/ White pad to remove swirls.
3. Menzernas micro polish w/ a blue pad
4. Menz Powerlock Paint Sealant w/ blue pad.

It took me 11 hours to do the paint work. I couldnt finish everything in one day and had to do the tires, windows, and trim the next day.

11 hours in one day with a PC is not an easy task.

what others products do I buy to perform my collection??

I'm very happy you understand me,I'm not alone in this situation. The car does I want to detail is the car at my girlfriend!!:buffing:She's nervous!!hahahha!!

I give you feedback about my first detail soon!!

thanks for your support!!:xyxthumbs:

Because Im fairly new myself, I really don't have the experience or knowledge about which products works best. Looks like you have pretty much everything you need to complete a full detail.

For a sealant, I was recommended Menzerna Powerlock Paint Sealant. Very easy to apply and wife off. You can then, wait til the next day to put a layer of wax to finish it up.

Hi,

On the the hood and the door with no OEM paint does I work my PC the same way to OEM paint or the clear is too slim??I'm very scary and nervous is my car!!:buffing:

Like already said, do some testing using the least aggressive products you have and a polishing pad and then wipe the panel clean and inspect. Chances are good if it looks good then you can repeat this process over the rest of the car and it will all come out looking great.

If you've never buffed out an entire car before, maybe just tackle half the car your first day, that is work on the hood, front fenders and doors, or the hood and the driver's side. Do all the steps till you're finished and then pat yourself on the back and take a break. You can get the rest the next day or the next weekend and you won't burn out.

Out of the products you listed,

M83
M205
9 LC pads 5.5"(orange,white,black,green,blue)
PC 7424XP

Test out the M205 with a white polishing pad on the hood for a section about 20" squarish or so, or simply break the hood up into 4 sections and just work on one section.

Place a circle of product on the outside perimeter of your buffing pad like this,

How much product do I use with my DA Polisher?

Circle Pattern on a clean dry pad and then worked for a Section Pass

And then buff just that section for one thorough section pass.

Here's how to do a "Section Pass" when trying to remove swirls, scratches and other below surface paint defects.

How to do a Section Pass

Now inspect your results. If they look good move onto the next section and OVERLAP a little into the previous section.

If the paint doesn't look good enough, that is you still see swirls, then switch to the M83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish. I would still stick with a polishing pad because a cutting pad and M83 will remove the defects but it might leave micro-marring. You can do a test and inspect the results and make up your own mind.

Once you dial in a pad and product combo that makes you happy continue working around the car and read the below... taken from here,

Pad is now equally dampened with residual product. At this point you could clean your pad or add fresh product and when you add fresh product you can adjust how much product you apply. In this example I used half a circle of product since the pad is now dampened.

Don't buff to a dry buff
The key it to have enough product on the surface as you're working a section to have a film of product that you can see on the surface behind the polisher as you move the polisher in a direction.

Look carefully at the paint, see the film of product? If I were to swipe this with my finger it's still wet, that's what you want. You don't want to see clear, shiny paint as you're removing swirls while you're buffing, that means you've run out of product.

Use the polisher on the 5.0 to 6.0 speed setting, you want to see the pad rotating anytime you're removing swirls.

:)

If the polishing pad and M83 is not enough,I can try to switch with orange light cutting and M83 but if my combo make micro maring, can I remove this with M205 and polishing pad??

If the polishing pad and M83 is not enough,I can try to switch with orange light cutting and M83

Yes, definietly...

M83 has a fairly short working time, read this thread and if you run into any problems then practice some of the tips outlined here...

Tips for working in warm/hot weather or direct sunlight

but if my combo make micro maring, can I remove this with M205 and polishing pad?

Yes, definietly...

The micro-marring should be very shallow and is the result of the diminishing abrasives together with the foam formula and the occilatting action of a DA Polisher. It can happen with a lot of compounds, polishes and swirl mark removers, not just M83.

Keep in mind it's possible you won't have any micro-marring issue at all... you really don't know till you go out into your garage and put the polisher against the paint and do some testing...

:)

If I understand,I begin to my least agressive set-up and is enough,it is the product I change for most agressive product but it is a obligation to change product in first or I can keep the least product and go up to most agressive pad??

or I can keep the least product and go up to most aggressive pad??

Yes...

Sometimes when you use a gentle swirl remover with an aggressive pad the aggressive pad may leave some hazing, but re-polishing with a softer pad and the same chemical should remove any hazing or micro-marring.

All of this can be determined in your test spot.

:)

I try my test and I give you a feedback and pics to my jobs.

thanks a lot!!:dblthumb2:

So,I beginning my first detailing on the car to my grilfriend:laughing: I do this steps;

#1:wash the car
#2:claying
#3:begin swirl remover

Ok,now I do a test spot with M205 and LC white polishing pad and is enough to remove swirls.

So,I try with a LC orange light cutting pad and M83 and 90% of swirls as gone.I begin my work around the car and after 50% of swirls removing the paint is clean but I see some smoked or marring I'm not sure.

It is combo light cutting pad and M83 is make this?Do I change my technic or combo?? sorry I don't have take pics to show you!!

thanks for your fast anwers because I have stop the job and retry tomorow!!

If you're still seeing swirls and switch to M83 the orange Lake Country pad might be a bit aggressive. Try using it with either a white or green polishing pad as they'll be a little less aggressive. It's important that you take your time. As you gain experience with both product and pads you'll be able to speed up the process but right now it's slow and easy....:props:

Yes your reason,I'm so be nervous!!:oI'm afraid to lost my shot.I'M trying to change my pad for the white polishing pad with the M83.M105 is make the same think or is too agressive??If I understand, the problem to have hazing is the pad and not the chemical??

Why in the video at Mike he use the orange and don't have problem to hazing??

So,I try M83 with Lake country white polishing pad and is make maring again but a little less.I aroind the with this combo and after I polishing with M205 and white polishing pad is not bad for a first time!!

I have take some pics and I show you tonight. So after I have remove tape and I ready to wash the car before waxing...

stay tune for the finale!!:xyxthumbs:
