real sponges

mike i just bought a new real honest to goodness sponge. tried it and love it. kinda expensive but just the right size. question is they are never mentioned as mitts and i wonder if the junk falls off of the grids on these things.
 
I've never tried a real sponge. Interesting idea. My concern would be that sand or abrasives would be buried down in the sponge and could scratch paint. Is that possible?
 
Sea sponges are nice. But even after a lot of rinsing to get sand out it still manages to have it trapped

Several members on the boards have really scratched their paint using sea sponges.
