Well today i was set up at my normal bussines building like i am every Tuesday (for 2 1/2 years now). Doing my normal weekly, bi-weekly clients, well i notice another mobile detailer set up in a lot two buildings down.(no big deal) but ive never seen this guy in town and preaty much know them all in my area and preaty good friends with them all. So i go about my biz and doing my cars and all of a sudden i see a guy walking over to the lot im in and go in the biz, comes out and drives a car to his set up from the lot i was in. Again no big deal. but then he gets another then another then another. the guy is taking my bussines right from my lot and never came up to me and introduced him self or ask if hes stepping on my toes. Pissed me off bc hes taking money out my pocket. so then i notice he takes one of my long term clients cars over to his setup. so i go talk to the client and ask why he was letting him do his car and not me just to make sure i didnt piss the guy off or anything, and he tells me that he thought that he was an employee of mine so didnt think anything about it. the guy was going around the building saying he works for me and that i sent him in to see if anyone needed there cars done. i work by myself and always have so i had to go around and tell everyone that he didnt work for me and everyone was like we were wondering why you were only charging 15 for a wash. like really what happen to professional courtesy and honesty. he was gone by the time i learned this and he didnt have a biz name that i could see anyway but dont let me see his A$$ again.

If this is indeed the truth, I would've been pissed for sure. More then likely a fight would've incurred

What did this new guy say when you told him your customer said that he was going around telling ppl he was working for you

Are you sure your customer wasn't just telling you this because he wasn't aware you were in the lot too

Intresting story

Popcorn

well i wouldnt have believed my client if he was the only one that said this but this is an office building with 15+ different businesses in it and from what i gathered he was saying that he was with executive mobile wash & detail (my biz) and was just wanting to see if anyone needed there car done and that we were having a special for 15$. I didnt get to talk to this guy bc by the time i found this out he was gone. but there probably would have been a fight. i have called some other mobile guys in my area to see if they know who this guy is and give them a heads up but no luck so far. so most of us around here are on the look out for him. i just hope this guy isnt going around saying hes me everywhere. we think that he just saw my trailer and bc he was new he might have thought it would of been ezer to get work if he used a biz name that has been around for awhile.

The businesses there knows that you work by yourself and should have confirmed that the theiving b#st#rd was really your employee. I'd be just as p#ss#d at them!

Next time you see his A$$ again:
Don't you guys have Concealed-Carry Laws down there? :D

Bob

he had two guys with him also so he was able to knock out a car pretty fast and the quality of his work was absolutely terrible. so i really hope hes not using my name around town.

yeah most of them know i work by myself but some ppl just leave there keys with there secretary bc they wont be in the office and know im there every tues. he got 5 cars and i did go around and inform everyone that no one works with me and if i did ever have someone working for me i would never send them to get my clients cars. and yes we do have Concealed-Carry Laws down here lol but would never turn to that.

All you can do at this point is remind your clients you work alone. If it continues, I think the answer should be pretty obvious

BTW...How can anyone afford to charge $15 for a wash? Where do they live, a mud hut?

thats what i was thinking. there would be no way i could live if i was doing 15$ washes

They will stay in business just long enough to wreck yours
well im glad that 80% of my clients are on my maintenance program and i mostly do my work at there houses. which i wish was 100% of my biz. i love doing my VIP package bc i already know what the vehicles need before i get there. but cant get more VIPs without doing that first wash first.

Worry :dig:

Jeeez that is shocking and can really tarnish your name.
What a total scumbag...

Just for sake of curiosity, what is your normal price for a wash?

Depending on what it is, $15 probably should have raised some red flags because it seems like quite an unreasonably low "special" price.

well theres no way for him to get to my VIP clients bc i meet with them face to face everytime i do there cars. and these ppl wont just let anyone touch there high end cars expecially when there paying 200$ a month for my package

my normal wash runs anywhere from 40$-60$ depending on the vehicle and maybe a 25$ extra charge for something really dirty

If you have a registered business, and someone is fraudulently acting under the name of your business, you can call the police. They will be arrested as they are perpetuating fraud.

really! i had no idea about that. that would be awsome if i knew the guys name. all i know was that he had a white f150 and a old rundown black enclosed trailer. he was two office buildings down from where i was at.

Do these VIP's stay locked down in their compounds 24/7? If not, all it will take is for Johnny Hack to run across them @ a gas station/resturant or just leave a flyer on their car

May as well go ahead and put the police # on speed dial. I'll bet you $20 this guy and his crew will back at it bright and early tommorow morning

I was going to say the same. If he was just soliciting business from your clients and offering them a better price as his own business, that is one thing, but him saying that he is representing your company is fraud.

Perhaps you could take a picture of him and show it to your clients and then they can give their statements to the police to speed things along, the next time you see him. Get a pic of him with his truck or something and one with his face of course. No need to get in a fight with him when involving the police, as it just makes things messy. He could file assault charges against you if you do. Not good. Just use the police and let the system work for you.
