Really Stubborn Bug Guts

I have used WD40 for years. After I wash the cars, I take a sponge and a can of WD40 and search for bugs, tar and sap that didn't come off. I've tried some products off the shelf, but I have always gone back to WD40. May not work for professionals, but it's ok for this DIY.
 
I would’ve tried Plasti Dip instead of sticking all that tape on my black paint.
 
How easily would the Plasti-Dip come off the paint?

I used Tack-Armor for a similar purpose and it was a failure. The stuff didn't stay on for very long, the edges pealed back and flapped in the wind. The flapping lead to paint damage I had to polish out later.

I have a 7-ish hour drive to see family and in the summer, I can easily get bug damage before I reach the destination and have a chance to clean off the car. Using paint coatings has helped a lot, but another layer of defense would be helpful.

On 2nd thought, maybe I wouldn’t do it.. It would take alot of product in order to both protect and peel off easily. Not to mention the work that goes into it. Probably better off applying a good lsp before the trip and making occasional stops to waterless wash.
