I can't really make out the spot for touch up.as far as the bumper bulged out like that, see if it pushes back in without interference if it does and there is no structural damage try using a 2 part epoxy resin and mend it back in place.or bring it to a body shop have them take a look at it.If it were me I'd go about getting a new bumper why should you have to mess around with it unless he hit you and ran.Last night i was the victim of a drunk driver who rear ended my new car, and i sustained bumper damage. My question is can i repair my bumper and color match the paint to factory code or should i get a new bumper. Thanks!
How much would i be looking at for a new bumper? (Ball park) Look again at the bumper (new pic circled), the crease that is circled. I need to mess around with it, i wasn't exactly a boyscout in this scenario, i rather not get into specifics but he was definitely drunk, i did him a favor by not calling cops.If it were me I'd go about getting a new bumper why should you have to mess around with it unless he hit you and ran.
Not sure how hard, i mean whether he applied brakes or no through my rear veiw it looked like about 25 mph...so your saying i will need a new bumper? Will be getting several estimates later today! Most likely that crease will not go away. The part that is popped out should pop right back in if you push it in correctly. If not, try leaving it in the sun to get warm and try again. looks like the reverse sensor is popped out a little bit also.
How hard did he hit you?
What do you mean damage underneath? The bumper unpainted is $400.00IF only the left side of the bumper sustained the impact, more than likely not always there will be damage underneath.Give yourself piece of mind and get it checked out by a professional.a new bumper with paint and r and r maybe anywhere from 600 to 1000 depending on where you go.
Its a brand new car i'm not going to do thatMaybe you can try contacting a salvage yard for a cheap one in good sharp also.
Wouldn't chance that i will just pay the piperUse a heat gun and heat that sucker up and try and push/ manipulate the crease back in. Be careful not to get the bumper to hot but you may be able to work most of it out. Boejoula was right you should be able to smack the bumper back in as well. If you are gonna complain about the cost or suggestions ,then maybe you should have called the police about the incident.
I found a guy that does not recommend a new one, he will be taking the bumper off and inspecting in my presence, he guarantee's show room look for reasonable dollar. Most cars that take a direct hit on one side or a direct angle absorb so much force there could be supplemental damage you can't see. That why the bumper needs to come off and be inspected by a certified collision expert. You stated bumper is 400 but doesn't include r and r and paint and clear.my client needed a front bumper on a 12 accord ended up paying 750 in total with paint.
complain??If you are gonna complain about the cost or suggestions ,then maybe you should have called the police about the incident.
Thats history, it was Christmas day and i didn't do it, i am not going to second guess myself, or discuss moral code right now i am just trying to fix my car. The collision guy will inspect for structure damage. You were hit by a drunk driver. His behind needed to be arrested. You may have felt good for getting him off easy, but he could have easily caused a wreck that could take someone's life.
As for your bumper, go to a collision repair shop and get it fixed. Like GSKR said, there can be structural damage you can't see.

What kind of certified, whats the industry standard?Make sure your "I gotta a guy" is certified!
He mentioned about the bumpers being painted differently then metal on cars, and there is a vin on the original that's why he recommended repair. Of course i will keep you informedOf couse not, the shop make more money doing a repair rather than an replacement. Having said that it does look very repairable. Keep us updated!
yes the collision repair shop is a reputable one with good reviews, one of the best in the area, i am sure the painters are ASE certified, but just to make sure i will askI meant, your "I gotta a guy" owns a reputable paint shop. Not a buddy that can paint in the backyard. Sure, I can paint with the right stuff, decent compressor etc, but I am by no means ASE certified to do so. All my damaged vehicles were done by ASE certified painters in reputable shops. If your guy can do it, great, get 'er done! I'm just speaking from an insurance/warranty (warranty of work too!) stand point. Just looking out for ya.
You can't repair a plastic bumper by heating it up... 1) plastic does not work that way and 2) there is stiff foam behind that bumper.
