My buddy has an 08 GTI. I spent saturday doing a little work on it for him in exchange for some homebrew - swapped to his summer wheels & tires, replaced the spark plugs & replaced the cam follower. At the end I gave it a quick wash and spray wax to protect it temporarily (he's getting the plastic valences and rockers painted to match in a week or two).

I'll also be doing a more thorough wash and wax and some spot correction with him after the new paint is cured out so i figured i'd take the opportunity to try out a few things before we go for gold.

I played around with a few dressings on the rubber window trim but nothing worked really well. Tried CG extreme VRP, mothers B2B & 303 AP; all were applied to MF and WOWO with a very short dwell time. The trim seemed super thirsty. Dressings looked good for 30 seconds or so but got absorbed and left behind a little bit of streaking with all products.

What does everyone else do when they run into this? Just keep feeding the rubber? Longer dwell time?

Any other product recommendations?

Wolfgang trim dressing has worked GREAT for me. My truck sits outside and it lasted a good month! Looks like brand new plastic and rubber when your done. No greasy look and the dirt dosnt flock to it either

+1. I got a sample of WG vynil and trim protectant and applied it to the wife's CR-V excessive plastic trim and it still looks great after almost 3 weeks and 2 washes. I cant wait for it to fade so I can use the UTTG+ I ordered for it but for now, I'll enjoy the nice wet shine look.
