Reccomend a Wax over Sealant for me. Or Not?

To be completely honest, your car will look
great no matter what wax/sealant you use,
assuming the paint underneath is corrected.

I'd say 99% of your car's final appearance is
determined by what your paint looks like before
you put your wax or sealant on. You'll get more
gloss and shine during the polishing step than
anywhere else!!

Personally I find carnaubas attract a lot of dust,
so I tend to avoid them.

P21s over Klasse read article perfect shine it explains that most wax solventseffect the underneath sealant and p21 is mild enough. So really p21 over any sealant.

Collie 845 has harsh solvents I know a lot of ppl like to use it over sealant I just use it solo and I believe it is already a premixed wax and sealant combo.

Color lock if you want to stay in the family. Pinnacle Souveran or WG Fuzion look amazing on red but are pricey. Collinite 845 (mentioned above) or 915 would both be good and affordable.

I use Wolfgang sealant topped with meguiars 26 paste and always enjoy the results on my red car. Not sure it makes a difference to anyone but me, but I enjoy the process anyway so it prolongs my gluttony.

And that is why I like Zymol Creame or Carbon over my DG111.

Looks great. Megs 26 is very inexpensive too.

I have heard that as well. I was told 845 doesn't always play well? Not sure, never tried it.
I think it depends on your climate. When I lived in Ohio I routinely used it with excell t results, then I moved to south Florida and had the hazing phenomenon. Awesome product I just don't think it plays well with high humidity.

I like 845 and used it for a long time, but always as the only layer of LSP. It has a solvent smell and I could see the chemicals leading to that odor possibly interfearing with a base layer. On it's own it's a great looking product with really good longevity.

Would do your Sonax perfect finish followed by your wax or sealant of choice. Could even use a Sonax wax. No need to prep after the polish (perfect finish)

Nattys red would look good too I bet. There are so many good sealants and waxes !

Thank you. There are too many choices aren't there? I have some Nattys blue laying around.

Thanks! It's a classic been using it for many years, I try new stuff but always seem to go back to it.

I still enjoy using M26 too. New product will be thrown us at an exponential rate for the rest of our days. Some great, some good, some not so good, and probably a lot - more of the same.

M26 seems to have stood the test of time, and might endure going forward.

I'm a big Zymol fan. I love the depth it imparts on polished paint. I don't see much on here about Zymol. Shame.

2 coats of Fusion. It checks both the Carnauba and synthetic sealant boxes. It's very easy to use and looks so nice after.

Same here.

A couple reasons..

1. Until somewhat recently Autogeek hasn't carried Zymol. Forum rules ask we not mention product not sold here. As a courtesy we try and abide.

2. By the time Zymol was offered, coatings, spray coating, spray sealants have become the rage. They simply offer more durability and peace of mind for many enthusiasts, professionals, and customers.

I do have one client who specifically requests a coat of Zymol wax atop of whatever sealant I apply. It's a nice and easy to apply upcharge for me.

•IMO:
-Whether it’s going to be a Daily Driver;
or, a Garage Queen...either top-it with
another coat of the Sealant (to ensure
“total coverage”); or, leave it alone.

•Also:
-There’s no need to “prep” with IPA, or
the Gyeon Prep, prior to applying a Sealant.
-That would be working backwards, IMHO.

{Save the “prep” step for Coatings’ applications.}

Bob

I agree with this.

I never top a sealant with a wax.
I never do an IPA wipedown after polishing. Why would I want to remove any of that polishing goodness?

Some people do an IPA wipe down or a silicone remover after polishing to check their work to see if any swirls or micromarring are left behind. Then they apply their LSP. All depends how many steps you want to do.

Thank you everyone for all your replies and helpful information.
