Hello,

I need to apply mckees37 wheel coating on my rims. The temp the next few weeks is going to be in the mid to high 40s. I can leave my truck in the garage but it's not heated. Is this to cold to apply a sealant?

Thanks

I wouldn't attempt it in temps that cold. I typically shoot for temps between 60~80*F to do any significant exterior detailing. Not only would the coating possibly not spread correctly and take a VERY long time to cure, but other products like your polishes probably wouldn't work real well either.

Why not follow the manufactures recomendations?

60 to 70 degrees seems to be the norm.

Why not bring a little space heater into the garage so you can at least get it up to around 60 or 70 in there?

That's what i did. Last week we had a low temp of 54, put a heater in the garage and coated the rims.

Not only a space heater, but depending on your lights, they can warm things up nicely too.

I've got a cheap set of halogen work lights from a hardware store and they generate a lot of heat. They are terrible in the warmer months, but fantastic in the cooler times as they will actually raise the temperature in my garage.

IMO:
If the truck is going to be shielded
from the wind (garaged); and, its
panels’ temperatures are going to be
in the mid-40s+ range; then applying
a Sealant should present no problems.

•On the other hand:
-Applying a Coating in that same temp-
erature range may not be as successful.

{Upper 50s would be my lowest tempera-
ture for most Coating applications.}

•Bottom line:
-If McKee’s 37 products
ever poses some doubt;
then that’s the time to give
Nick@McKee’s 37 a shout.
