Hi All,

This was a first time detail on my wife's car... 2006 VW Golf GTI...Tornado Red..daily driver.

There was some swirl marks with minor scratches.

The process and products used as follows:

  • Meguiars Gold Class car wash
  • Clayed with Autoglym Clay Kit
  • Megs G220V2, LC Orange pad with Menzerna SIP
  • Megs G220V2, LC White pad with Menzerna FF
  • Megs G220V2, LC Grey pad with Collinite 915
I was satisfied with the results as the swirls were gone and the color and shine was excellent.

As this was my first time, I think I can make the car look even better.

How soon can I do these steps again without damaging the paint?
Can I avoid any of the steps?
How often should I be waxing?

Thanks.

Not familiar with the Menz line, but you should only need to polish the vehicle when it gets scratched up. If you're hand-washing carefully this could be a year or more, even if it's a daily driver.

I reapply sealant about once a quarter and wax about monthly depending on weather and how the car looks.
