Had a chance to detail friend's Bright Red 1997 Toyota Celica over the weekend. Since I only had 5 hours block of time I asked my friend to wash the car prior coming to my house so I can go straight to paint correction. :xyxthumbs:

Because of the limited time and the car was going to be put on the market, I planned to just do 1-step paint correction.

So the car arrived in the morning. The paint condition wasn't too bad, with some swirls all over and RIDS here and there. When the car arrived it was covered in light dust, so I used UWW+ to clean.

I proceeded with decontamination using Bilt-Hamber clay and lubed with Meg's Last Touch 1:1

For paint correction I decided to test combination of LC orange pad & Meg's Color-X on Bosch GEX150 turbo (forced rotation machine like Flex 3401).

Turned out to be good combo, the paint seems to be relatively soft so is responding well on test spot. This is the result after 4 slow section passes:

Not perfect, but definitely a big improvement.
(Sorry no before picture of the car, but that was pretty much the paint condition throughout the whole car)

Happy with this combo, I then proceeded to do the whole car including the head lights and taill lights, switching to Meg's UC on more stubborn defects.

The paint was then sealed with Meg's UPW applied on black LC pad, and plastic trims treated with Meg's UP.

Here is the result after 5 hours of work:

Thanks for reading!

Very nice, that red really pops!
I always like that model Celica.

most celica's that i've ever seen are either suffering from clearcoat failure and/or hammered with all kinds of dents/dings. nice job, hopefully your friend can keep up with maintenance on it or let you detail it every so often to keep it looking it's best. what a gem to have...

btw, is it manual or automatic?

Looking good nice work. I'm grown so fond of red cars latley. Can't get enough of them with paint looking this good.

Thank you, it really is a gem.
It is a manual, and my friend reluctantly sold it because the car does not suit a growing family anymore.. but nevertheless we were happy with the result!

You sure it doesn't sits in a museum......that Celica looks beautiful most of them you see now of days are oxidated with clear coat failure
