This is the customer that brought me his Harley the last couple of years. I did his truck 2 years ago and the paint was in bad shape back then but I think this time it came back even worse. There were a lot of scratches and swirls throughout. I ended up having to bump up to Menzerna FG-400 on an orange pad to get the correction I was looking for. The interior was thankfully in better shape then the paint was. This will be the last one I post for the season since I shut down during the winter. Enjoy.

Looks good, really makes the red pop. I was wondering how you were gonna throw in the pic with your T/A, like the reflection shot.

Wow that looked pretty bad.
It so soooo good now. Excellent work.

Thanks! Sometimes she gets a little jealous so I have to sneak her into a pic haha

Looks great!

Have you talked to that customer about the cause of those swirls? I wonder what their response would be.

Harley Davidson sells a 'kit' for dusting the bike that includes an aerosol detail spray (that smells and looks suspiciously like lemon pledge), and a terry towel. The instructions on the can are to wipe and dust off of the bike FIRST, THEN spray with the detail spray and wipe off with a "rag". I mentioned to a Harley friend of mine he ought to modify those instructions a bit and spray first, then wipe off with a microfiber. He told me Harley painted the bike, they ought to know how to care for it, and proceeded to scrub the dust off of his swirled-up black Harley :P

Thanks. I talked to him last time and this time. He said he doesn't have the time to properly care for it and just runs it through the car wash. I guess it just means I'll have a repeat customer for a long time.

I would think 'less is more' would be the case for him. A TOUCHLESS automatic with no hand drying afterwards (unless he's willing to hand dry it right) wouldn't do that much damage; I don't think anyway.

Of course, it's like a dentist telling the kid not to eat sweets. At some point you gotta just enjoy the repeat business! lol.

Wow, that was an awesome job. You said it was previously polished out by you in the past. Going with FG400, did you have to measure the paint that was left on there? Also, roughly, does it cut the same as Meg's Ultimate Compound? I'm surprised that FG400 finishes out so well even with an orange cutting pad. My most aggressive compound is M105.

Wow the paint was jacked up, nice work right there:)
That's the type of corrections I love doing, I love seeing results like you did on this truck.

Thanks everyone. I didn't measure the paint even though I have a paint thickness gauge. With Ford's clear being harder then most and knowing I only did a one step 2 years ago I felt very safe with the amount of clear I had to work with. I have never used Megs UC so I can't comment on that. FG-400 is a really nice compound because it finishes down so well even on an orange pad.

Looks the way a red truck is supposed to look, now. Great job!
