So it's been a while since I posted up any work - mostly because I have been on a leave and enjoying a break from everything
I detailed this at the beginning of March and it wasn't my typical correction type detail. The paint on this car was super thin (60µ to 70µ) and as such I wasn't prepared to do any correction work. Instead the objective was to get everything clean and decontaminated, and then glaze the paint, then protect everything.
The car has super low mileage and was pretty neat, except for all the dirt, grime, and greasy dressings everywhere.
This here is what 'silicone' type tire dressings do - sling all over the car
So the first order of business was to clean out the fender wells, get the terrible tire dressing off, and give the wheels a clean. The centre caps were removed and cleaned and protected separately.
The tools/products used
Before
After cleaning
The car itself was pretty clean and so I gave it a rinseless wash instead of the normal 2 bucket method
Then it was clayed using Shield Heavy Duty clay and glazed using Poorboys Blackhole applied by hand.
I then tackled the interior getting rid of the greasy dressings using Carchem APC and protecting the interior plastics using Aerospace 303 and Collinite 855 on the leather
Then the door jambs were cleaned/polished/protected using Autofinesse Tripple on a MF applicator pad by hand. The carpets vacuumed, interior/exterior glass cleaned using Autoglym Fast Glass and the door/window rubbers cleaning using Shield Heavy Duty Rubber Cleaner and protected using Aerospace 303.
Before
After
And some pics of the completed car.
Total time spent = 18 hours
Then a couple of weeks later I detailed a Pearl White Toyota 86 - unfortunately there were no pics taken at all, because a) almost all of the car was covered in VPS and where it wasn't, it was so difficult to capture any defects in the paint and b) the owner was here with me so I could show him exactly how to detail the engine bay, wheels and how to wash and dry the car properly. It was pretty much a normal 'full detail' of mine, with only Menzerna SF4000 on a white pad being needed to restore some clarity to the non VPS'd paint
As always any comments or questions are welcome
