Redoing Headlights McKee's 37

Hi All,

I just did a friend's headlights with McKee's 37 Headlight restoration kit. McKee's 37 Total Headlight Restoration Kit, how to restore headlights

My question is, is there anything wrong with REDOING the job within a day or two? Does the UV protectant need to be removed a special way, or can I just go to work with the polishing compound again?

You should be just fine repolishing. May I ask why you are redoing?

Sure. It is my first job for someone else. The lenses had a yellowish tint that friend was not happy about. I said that I'd hit them again to see if it helped, or if the yellow was all the way through the lens. Also, I see it as part of my learning process.

You'll be fine. The polish will rip right through the UV protectant. Just be sure to reapply it when done the second time.

Here is the follow up. I redid the headlights using a fresh wool pad with longer nap. Higher speed on drill. I did a 50/50 to see for myself if I was making progress. YES.
My lesson learned: higher speed on drill, longer nap wool, multiple passes. Customer was very satisfied in the end. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
