So, I have been out of the detailing game for a few years now. I am starting to get back into it now and was checking out the stuff I had stored. I noticed I had some lake country pads that were put away dirty. What is the best way to get these back to a state where they are usable? Hot water wash good enough? Maybe soak first?

Thanks.

Dawn soap, hot water, rub against a grit guard if you have one. I left polish in a pad once and had to throw it away. Just could not get it cleaned.

I recently found that my Tornador worked very well to loosen dried wax and compound from my foam pads. I just used APC.

Don't have one unfortunately

Pressure Washer at a distance of 2 feet works quickly, effectively and does not seem to damage pads.

I don't use the sink method unless I have to.

Pressure washing works nice, but I have seen negative effects from it. The tornador does work well.

I would suggest soaking them in warm water mixed with snappy clean or other foam pad cleaner to soften the debris and old polish.

Cleaning pads isn't science, but be aware of what you use too clean them as some products don't rinse well and can leave residual film or chemicals which can contaminate the pad.

Just for an easy to understand comparison.

Think about how difficult it can be to try and get dish detergent off of your hand. Not all soaps and cleaners are created equal in terms of their intended purpose.

i use APC, let it dwell for 30 minutes or so,
then toss them in a sink of warm water for an hours or so,
rinse with warm water,
then i use compressed air to push as much water and any missed product out of the pad.
