Remove car exhaust smoke from bike rack

My car exhaust left heavy black marks on bottom of bike rack.

I can't remove it with general degreaser.

Can anyone advise me on how to remove it?

Try any paint polish, compound, cleaner/wax or paint cleaner?

Is the surface smooth? Like in painted?

A) The OP has a carbureted engine. (Oh, the pure joy!) And.....

B) The OP has the wherewithal to adjust such a malady.
