What’s the best way of removing household paint on the exterior of car? Someone threw out a can of paint in my neighbor hood and it got everywhere, gf didn’t know it was wet and it shot up on the paint.

Ok, We are going on vacation so I’ll order a clay mitt since I hear good things about them. Now what would you do with fabric wheel well liners with the paint on them?

I cannot speak to this, as I have no experience cleaning those fabric liners.

A stiff brush? Sounds like a nightmare. :(

A clay mitt is not going to remove paint.

You would have a better chance with the Mothers clay bar off the shelf.

Soaking it down good with windex and a microfiber may actually remove it.

Post a picture of the damage if ya can.

Chances are you can use a light polish to remove it quite quick.

How large are the paint spots?

If they are just tiny specks then the clay option is a good choice. But if they are larger blobs of paint (> 1/8") the clay may not work as well.

In that case I'd try a solvent first. Depending on how long the paint has been there will determine how aggressive the solvent needs to be.

Here's the order of solvents I would try...
- Mineral Spirits
- Enamel Reducer
- Lacquer Thinner
- Acetone

Be aware that as the solvent aggressiveness increases so do the risks. I wouldn't go beyond the Enamel Reducer without testing in a inconspicuous area first.

Tarminator and a bug sponge should remove the paint. Claybar should also work. Is it latex paint or oil based? The latex paint should peel off easily with your fingernail.

Sorry on delay, went on a vacation and just got back. Before leaving I was able to get most off the paint work with my finger nail, I still am getting a clay bar kit to tackle the rest. The issue mainly at hand is the fabric style wheel well liners.

I have trouble getting sticks and leaves off of mine in my truck...I can't imagine paint!
Blast it off with a powerful power washer is all I can think of
