Removing air freshener odor from used car

Have you thought about calling the previous owner and asking him what it is?

Unfortunately it was bought at an auction and then sold to me locally. I believe it came in like this.

Bingo. I think it's found. I took apart the center console completely today. No hidden fresheners, just some various candy and hairs. Sure enough, when i split open the components of the center console, out came that odor in full force. It's inside the center console. I'm gonna soak it all in hot soapy water overnight, if that fails I'll be buying replacement parts.

The regular yellow liquid LATA all purpose cleaner.

I’m glad that you’ve seemed to have found the source... I once owned a vehicle that had a strange scent I could never eliminate and while it wasn’t exactly a bad scent, it also wasn’t something I would’ve ever chose myself.
