Removing fine swirls from headlight lens

I just opened and used a tad of a syringe of OptiLens.. I am sure I could be convinced to trade the remainder since I won't need it for a long time.

Thought I'd give an update!

I was skeptical at first, but the DP headlight polish is amazing. I used it at high speed (1800rpm) with a white Chemical Guys Hex-Logic pad, and within about 20 seconds I had completely swirl free lights! Not "finer swirls" but no swirls!

The biggest challenge was removing the residue after polishing. IPA on a shop towel created fresh swirls, as did wiping with a microfiber towel.

Ended up very very delicately removing the residue with a MF towel. Left a few tiny swirls, but couldn't be avoided.

Crazy good product.

I wonder why even gentle use of a MF towel is leaving swirls though. Could my lenses really be that soft?

Either way, I'm soon applying X-Pel film on the lenses to give them some physical and UV protection. Sealed the insides with spar urethane.

I didn't have any problems with the final clean. Maybe try reducing your rpm's when you apply ? You may be heating things up.

Ok sorry. Just reread your post. The problem wasn't the difficulty in removal, but rather anything that touched the plastic?

^ yep, exactly. It's as if these lenses are super soft and easy to scratch. Lightly wiping a microfiber towel over them is enough to leave marks that show with a flashlight.

This sounds like what I need! My 4 year old DD has fine scratches that really show up when the HIDs are on. Do the lenses need to be protected afterwards so they won't possibly "yellow up" or get cloudy?

Sounds like it was a good learning experience.

In reality, the adhesive on the X-Pel film will fill moderate swirls; making them invisible.

I know you fixed the problem and glad you did.

But did you try using M205 a white pad at a low rpm?

Those looked like holograms from using the drill at a high rpm

I really feel at a low rpm and M205 it would of came out ?
