My Cousin just moved to Chicago from Texas and need to remove her dark tint since Illinois does not allow ANY tint on front windows and I must say that it was a breeze. I have seen it done on youtube and I was a little reserved about the process but when I hit the tint with steam the glue turns to warm butter and the tint comes right off! Most of the glue came off with the tint as well....just a quick razor blade to the remaining glue and wolla .......all done!

I have had a steamer for 2 years now and have yet to have a customer needing to remove tint so it was a great learning experience for me..

tint is allowed in IL....around Nov or so....35% all around.

Might want to check that.....I looked at the ill sec of state website (laws) and they did modify the law however it doesn't say that tint is allowed on any window next to the driver except due to medical reasons. They require tinters to keep medical waivers on file of cars that they tint front windows.

I might have missed an ammendent some where else or something but that section is pretty clear.

Tint laws. Cops. Tickets. LOL.

15% Windshield
15% Back Window
5% Side and Quarter Windows
=
5 tickets

OH YEAH
(rant on)
While the cops at it, he gives me a ticket for having a license plate cover on. Its the brightest thing on my car so I bought the slightly grey cover from AutoZone and put that on. I see cars everyday wearing those but noooo I get them. My plate looks TOTALLY fine:
