Removing Tire Gel From Applicators

I am having a really really hard time removing tire gel from applicators. I am finding that even using my towel soap and soaking them in a bucket does absolutely nothing. What is the best way too break down the gel and be able to remove it from the applicators so I can get multiple uses out of them?
 
Foam applicators?

1. Have dedicated brand applicators
2. Try soaking in D108
3. Buy new ones
 
Have dedicated tire applicators and store in a zip lock bag. No need to wash the applicator as your tires should be clean before applying dressings.
 
I have dedicated applicators, I have used APC on the applicator to clean it out, I also had luck with pad cleaner as well.
 
i just use a dedicated foam tire applicator and when i'm finished i take a paper towel (folded a few times) and press the applicator (on the ground) firmly a few times to soak out any remaining dressing and then put it in an empty open dedicated plastic container...

This is exactly what I do as well, although I try to wrap the applicator a few times in a paper towel before putting into the bag.

I'm no longer in Limerick, I'm in Gilbertsville which is like 5 mins up the road.

Was just in Phoenixville last week shooting with my buddy at French Creek.

But, since I discovered these applicators - I don't clean them any more with mineral spirits - which is the only thing that really works.

These are the best dressing applicators for tires, sadly they seem to be on perma back order from AG:

I have the foam blocks that look like an I-beam. I use BF tire gel. I have to admit, after each use, I just put the applicator in my wheel/tire drawer, gel side up, and leave it for the next time. I change it out for a new one about once-twice per year. I tried using a ziploc for a while, but the gel left in the applicator would get real watery. This is one of those things that I don't think you need to mess around with cleaning it after each use. Just use it until it gets worn then put a new one in service. Plus they aren't expensive with the 3-pack for $15, then catch a 20% off sale and you can get it for $12.

I use to do that method but dressings stored in my van,either solvent or water based turn into a thick gel because of the heat.I use aerosol from now on.
 
I dont wash my applicators. After use I put them into a ziplock till next time.

As I am just applying tire dressing...I use the cheap poly foam applicators. After a few uses I chuck them and the ziplock bag and repeat :)

It just isnt worth the time and effort removing all that gunk.
