Well the wife dropped off the SRX for a visit to Cadillac, and they immediately placed her in the truck. (they must have seen what a 2yr old boy can do to a showroom). Somehow she got a brand new 2007 Suburban with 5000 miles and cosmoline all down the side and front bumpers.

Well, I am not one to drive a dirty car, and the wife is afraid of the thing. Its huge and has no rear parking sensors. So after work last night, I decided a quick detail was in order.

Wheels --- P21S Wheel Cleaner, Optimum Dressing, Fk425 on centers

Paint --- wash with DP Xtreme Foam, and Foam Gun. Poorboys Bug Squash to remove cosmoline.

Drying --- Leaf Blower and Poorboys Wash w/ guzzler

Sealant -- Zaino's Clear Seal

Running Boards -- Poorboys Trim Shine

Sorry for the large pics, but wanted you to see paint 24 hours later after cured. Nice gloss, reflection, and slickness but nothing says POW !!

The real benefit as I used it the way most would, without a dozen coats of this or that underneath. It did only take 15 minutes for entire truck. Sealant is unique as clear, but leaves a light hologram (rainbow) appearance initially and then is gone without streaking in several minutes. Slickness is apparent immediately, but neither take note the way that RedDot49 and several other sealants (UPP, Wolfgang) do initially in appearance with more reflection and gloss. I am clearly hoping for more gloss on the next two no wipe sealants that are due to market soon.

Now for the bad luck. I visited a local Fast Food eatery for a quick lunch this afternoon. I parked the truck away from other visitors. When I came out I found a big metal door laying on the ground next to the truck. Pushed it aside, and proceeded to leave. My eye catches a glimmer in the hood. No freaken way, a cover from a lightpole in the parking lot about 10 feet up fell directly onto this new, cleaned, rental truck !!! :( :(

I am sure they will appreciate the detailing, but even after a buffer and some P085 and P106F this was the best I could do (see pic above). It literally crushed into the hood at several small positions. A witness said, it just came from the sky !!!

Looks good i really like the optimum on the tires

lol..hahahaha...."It came from the sky"....hahaha hilarious...well not really funny but kind of funny.

What a coincidence, what are the chances that it would land on the brand new, just detailed vehicle. Wow talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The car looks really good though, nice and clean and the tires are nice.

That is the cleanest looking rental I have ever seen. How do you like the zaino clear seal because I just placed a order for some today? Mike...

at least the car wasent one of yours that got hit from "somthing right out of the sky'

That's got to blow man, but hell they've got a nice truck now.

at least you were not driving around in the vette...

good thing it wasn't you or your family....that would have hurt! Maybe worse.....

on the "Drying" line, you put Poorboys wash-----what do you mean??

Remember I like to dry my cars/trucks with a leaf blower. I intentionally leave little water pellets to remove. I usually use a qder+ like 425, AW, or such. But I didnt want it to damage or skew the CS results. So I grabbed some Poorboys Spray/Wash and used it. Enough lubrication to remove water and spots without marring, but no gloss or additional ingredients to harm the next layer.

I love the concept of CS Mike, but the outcome leaves something to desire. I hoped it would look like their Pro line , but it almost looks like it went back to the original Z2 look (kinda plastic). It is of no benefit to me, if I must put 4 layers of this, two layers of that, then CS, and then a qd'er+. I bought it hoping to reduce the workload.

I'm looking at the hood, weird, did the sign put a diagnal line gouge? Looks like 4 indents.

Bet your glad you weren't driving the Vette that day:eek: . The new GM trucks are ultra comfy, I was in my friends 07' Denali and it just cruised on the highway, drove smoother then some luxury cars, smoother then even our LX470.

so you detailed this rental truck just because you thought it looked dirty? damnnn you are a reaallllly nice guy to do that for free! i bet the dealership will think you are nuts hahaha
nice job tho, it looks better than half the new cars on the lot i bet.

Man, I hate things that "come from the sky". I had a royal palm tree "come from the sky" on my last car. :( The detail looks great Killer, sorry about the other part though. :(

Detailing a rental could be construed as "obsessive". I was in Austin TX on Thursday and Friday and got a rental car at the airport. Hertz upgraded me to a Ford 500. It was not very clean outside or inside. Definetly not up to my standards. I guess if I was renting it for a while at home for some reason I might clean it up a bit too.

We are a sick lot.

I don't see the second pic? First one looks good.

it was the closeup of hood and damage after buffing, for some reason it was deleted from album. Maybe wife and attorney are planning some "pain and suffering" ;)

I am surprised Caddy did not up the ante with a Cadillac! yep obsessive. Just got done with a 2009 V series Caddy! Detailed out Engine and compartment virtually (work for GM see all the new or thymes coming out till 2010.). They are sticking with my thyme for engine cover. Beautiful car. Virtulal Reality what a rush.

Cadillac is clearly back and in the drivers seat. The cars are leading edge, great looks, and dependable. Throw in the bigger warranties (mass production can plague all car makers) and you got a nice ride. Unfortunately the Enterprise Rental at dealership has moved to big trucks as our Cadillac dealer is also a Hummer dealer.

Yes they are. Cadillac are coming back, The ones I see for 2009 and beyond look truely great! The V series motor, all hand built! Warrenty looks they have it all! The only motors hand built are V series Caddilac and the Z06 vette motor at present! I know some european car also have this but for a mass production car. Detail looks great!

Looks great! I bet they are happy yo got the SUV
