I have to say first that I will never own a black car again. After a week of a minor detail on the paint I still had scratches so I set out to do some research. I decided to pick up a lot of Chemical Guys products to fully renew my paint and interior. There is more products that are not in the picture also. I will update as I go.

Just getting started. Hard to get the photos to show the swirls but my paint is pretty bad. These are the before pics. I will post after when the car is finished. And georgia is horrible about water spots btw. The grill and spoiler are coming off for this and whole car getting taped off.

Completed the process with V36 w/orange cut pad and then V38 w/white polish pad. I will have to finish tomorrow with 2 coats of black light then 2 coats of Pete's '53 then V7. Those polishes come off very easily. V36 makes a lot of dust but V38 does not at all. Great system for first timers. More photos to come on the exterior

Trim mostly taped off. Those are paint chips from when I lived in colorado. I filled those in as well with touch up paint.

Looking good, can't wait to see the fully finished product! I just did the same thing as you, ordered a huge kit to perfect my car for the first time!

Great work! You did a number on those swirls. I have a black car as well, and it will be the last. Black looks the best when it is nice and clean, but it shows everything! Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone. Car is finally done after 2 days of work on the paint. I will post pics once the thunderstorm outside goes away and the sun comes back.

Me too!

That is I'm looking forward to seeing the after results.

Were you able to remove all the water spots/stains?

Ya looks like glass now. Only things I could not fix was the RIDs.

Thanks for all the info on the forum Mike. Made doing this that much easier. I was a little worried at first and kept coming back to the forum for more info.

So I could not get photos in Georgia cause it was raining when I finished the car. After the rain storm, at night, I drove 800 miles to St. Louis from Georgia, hit 2 small rain storms and lots of bugs. I did a quick spray off when I got to my destination. I have to say everything that got thrown at the car during my drive the paint is still in excellent condition. So here are some pics after I sprayed it off. I basically tested the crap out of these products.

Car is dusty from sitting over night outside. Also you can see the small dent above the passenger side scope. Not sure how it happened but has been there for a while.

Outstanding work good sir! It's amazing what quality products armed with plenty of knowledge, along with time and patience, can produce.

subcribed to number 2! Chemical guys won't let you down either I love them

For the most part, if the car in question is a Daily Driver, then it's usually better and SAFER to learn to live with the RIDS than to try to remove them and the reason why is because factory paint is thin and hard.

The last thing you want to do is be working on a deeper scratche... almost have it worked out... and then turn your buffing pad over and see the color of the basecoat. That's a bad sign and your heart will absolutely sink...

You're welcome and just to note around here it's always a team effort. Max pays all the bills to keep the forum going and that means paying for the servers where the forum and massive gallery is hosted. Plus behind the scenes things like Jason who is our "Tech Guy" and keeps the forum up and running and running smoothly.

My passion is to detail cars and to help others detail cars, pretty simple in life compared to what so many others do including anyone in our military.

Great job! :xyxthumbs:

I notice a Subie in the garage there. Impreza or WRX/STI?

Ya I realized since it is my DD that I would not try to mess with the RIDs. Im very OCD with my car and sometimes its hard to come to terms with normal wear and tear but I manage.

Also, thank you to all the team for the knowledge. And thanks for the military comment, always good to know we aren't forgotten in todays fast moving world.

Great job! :xyxthumbs:

It is my brothers Subie. It is a regular Impreza. He is slowly learning the world of cars. But on my youtube link you can see my old blue WRX that I built the motor in. Someday I will return to a Subie.
