This is what I always wonder about coatings. How do you know the coating is still there, or if polymers from a wash product or a QD are just causing the paint to bead?

If one were to wash their car weekly with ONR and wipe it down after with OID wouldn't it bead all the time? I know this is the case with some products, like Sonax Brilliant Shine Instant Detailer. That stuff beads better than most waxes and lasts quite a while.

In my experience, ONR doesn't bead well at all. The polymers in it aren't really meant to provide any protection.

Same here, OID does not produce tight beading showed in the picture. But it does help somehow preserving the underlying LSP.
 
Thanks for the input and comment. Yes, I wash weekly with ONR, but ONR polymers aren't that strong to provide such beading. And OID I only apply it when I really have the time. Tropical weather here means not everytime I got the all the time I need to properly do up everything. That's why I eventually invested in a blower to ease up the drying process.
 
Wow this is really interesting as we probably have similar weather conditions (Philippines). Really impressed that Opti Coat has lasted this long as I have yet to find any product that can last 3 months. Does your paint get any scratches from washing, cleaning or other causes?

I would be lying if I say no, it is 4.5 years... So there is a little damage caused by washing, but there wasn't scratches, only a few minor swirls or hairlines, which you can see from the photo, it is hardly revealed.

And believe it or not, this color of mine you can actually see the hairlines better at night with light rather than out there under the sun.

Go ahead and do it up your car :)...

I understand there is always so many nice stuffs to try out, but I specially dedicate my own daily car to test Opti Coat durability, as a testament, and also as a mythbusters to those who doubt a coating can last this long.
