Product Review: Attach-It 3oz Measuring Cups
3 oz. Measuring Cups

01_-_3_Pack.jpg

Description: (Taken from AG's website)

Keep a handy measuring cup with every concentrated product.

The Attach-It Measuring Cup hangs around the neck of just about any bottle so it's always there when you need it. The 3 oz. measuring cup has the volume marked on the side. Hang an Attach-It Measuring Cup around each of your concentrated detailing products. By giving each product its own cup, you'll avoid the cross-contamination that occurs when reusing the same cup. Use Attach-It Measuring Cups with shampoos and concentrated cleaners. Attach-It Measuring Cups are sold in packs of three.

Price:

$1.99 for 3

Introduction:

I'm the type of person who doesn't want to pay for something that I think is either not worth it or unnecessary. This product fits both descriptions, or so I thought. I've always used the caps to dilute my shampoos or no rinse solutions before mixing them into the bucket of water. Not only do they get messy but I don't think they're accurate because it overflows or spills most of the time. Even with this belief lingering my mind, I still refused to pay for a set of plastic measuring cups.

I posted in a thread one time saying I want to try this and a kind-hearted member said he'll send me a cup. I was very thankful of this guy because he didn't hesitate to offer this to me despite the shipping charges probably costing more than the product itself. It would have probably made more sense if I paid for the cups LOL! After receiving the measuring cups, I was hooked. I don't know why I didn't have these earlier. I immediately placed my order for a pack of 3. That's how much I liked it.

Opinions and Observations:

The measuring cups have markers every half an ounce on the side to show you how much volume the product is in the cup. The cup is also translucent so you can clearly see at what level your product is at. Here's a picture of the measuring cup with 1.5oz of ONRWW:

Once you have the appropriate level of product, you can then pour it to your bucket or to whatever container you're going to use. This can be seen in the following picture:

Another AWESOME feature I like about these measuring cups is their built-in hanger. You can attach the measuring cups to the caps of the concentrates or shampoos you have. I guess that's why they're called "Attach-It." This ensures that you have the measuring cups whenever you need them. It'll lessen the chances of losing them. Here's this feature shown in the picture below:

Tips & Tricks:

I would like to share with you guys another application I use these measuring cups for.

I like using Meguiar's Detailer line of products such as Last Touch, APC and APC+. As you know, their secondary bottles have dilution levels on the side to show you where to pour both water and product and give you the proper product dilution. But this only works if you start out with an empty bottle. I really hate starting out a detail with a partially full secondary bottle because I don't know if it's going to be enough for my application. So before starting any detailing session, I like to have my secondary bottles full. This is where these measuring cups come in handy.

The picture below shows a Meguiar's Last Touch seondary bottle partially full.

How do you fill it up with the proper 1:1 dilution with the bottle partially full? Well that's where the measuring cups come in! TADA!!! I just measure equal amounts of product and water as shown below:

2oz of Last Touch:

2oz of water:

Then pour each of them to your secondary bottle as shown below. Just a tip, don't fill it up to the 3oz mark when doing this. It gets messy - trust me!

You can also fill it up higher than the normal full line as shown below:

This tip will also work with any secondary bottles with or without the dilution levels on the side. Also, any dilution ratio will work with this method too. Just adjust to the proper ratio of course.\

I hope you guys don't discount my review for such a cheap item. That's the beauty of this product, it's so cheap yet effective. It simply works and it's so worth it.

Suggestions For Improvement:

Just a suggestion to further improve an already great product. I'd really like the measuring cup to have a very small pouring lip on the lip of the cup. This will make pouring to secondary bottles with small openings easier.

Conclusion:

As originally stated, I didn't think that it was worth to pay the money (even if it's little) for pieces of plastic. But boy I was wrong! This is a necessity! If you don't have these bad boys yet, you need to put them in your cart right now! At the cost of $1.99, I'm sure everyone can afford it. Trust me, it'll make your life easier. I really hope that this review helps everyone.

Alot of thought went into your review of such a small product and I know it will help some people out. Thanks! I bought the 1oz AG blue measuring cups myself 1 oz. Measuring Cups and can see how products like these really come in handy. I like the hanging feature of the 3oz cups!

Great review Marc!!!! I have these and love them.

I can't tell you how many times ive had these in my cart and then took them out. I've always thought I'd find a better alternative. I think you've talked me into them.

Very nice review.

It's all in the details :) Great review

Thank you so much, Ray!

Thanks, Success! You need to go ahead and pull the trigger! I guarantee that you will like it.

Nice review. I keep one of these by the washer. Comes in really handy when it comes time to load up the microfibers and wash solution. Reduces the guessing and waste of product too. Thanks for the reminder that i need to pick up another set w/my next order! :xyxthumbs:

You sold me on them with your review.

Gonna add to cart for the order I plan on placing later this week

Thanks for such an informative review on such a simple product. I really like your suggestion of adding a pouring lip :xyxthumbs:

Honestly, I kind laughed when I read the review title, BUT, it turned out being very well worth the review! Nice job, Marc! :props: :dblthumb2:

Who would ever have thought that a review of a measuring cup would be needed? But you did such a good job of it you have talked me into buying these things with my next order!

For something so simple we sometimes fail to realize their importance. Like you, I didn't want to shell out the extra penny's then thought; what the heck, go for it! I found these to be invaluable when measuring is important.

I have 3 of these plus a few I rescued from the plastics bin from protein drinks. The later differ in size but make a dandy addition to my measuring cups and they do get used...

Nice review Marc! :props:

Another well thought out, as well as presented review Marc... A pleasant read!!

-Who'd a thunk a: 3@$1.99 item would be a welcomed-purchase.

-Great way to secure accurate measurement of products...
Less Waste = More Money Saved

Unbelievably:
-My "measuring cups" are usually stored in a old cigar box...In total disarray I must add...
With the necessity of washing them out after each use, to avoid the cross-contamination you spoke about.

Looks like these 3 oz. measuring cups are not only a feasible, but a reasonable solution for my situation.

Thanks for bringing them to my attention! :props:

NOTE:
The only problem I have with any/all measuring cups (In order to abstain from wasting products)...
Is finding the meniscus of the varioius fluids, thusly poured therein...

-My eyes have succumbed somewhat to the: "Getting Older Syndrome"

:)

Maybe these could be of some assistance?

they work for me......:D

Awesome review Mark! You really set the standard for these now lol :props:.

Indeed he has. If Mark made a review on a black mini skirt, he would probably convince me to buy one..........ok maybe not that.

Great review Mark! I personally bought a "kitchen" measuring cup after I made my wife mad for using hers. These make much more sense, especially with the ability to attach them to bottles. These will defenitely be on my next purchase!

Thanks Tim...

I've got a couple pair of those, but I can't find them half the time.

OOOPS...Maybe I have another problem?!?!
Sorry...Don't remember right now.

:D

Nice review. Did you think of the paperclip as well?

Sent PM.

I add 3 of these to my cart frequently. Now I have a whole garage full of them. Great review, as everyone should get these - I always have one at arms length. I can't believe everyone doesn't have a slew of these. I thought it was a no brainer.

I also bought the 1 oz set once. But, they are no good. Even if you only need to measure an ounce, its filled to the top and you end up spilling some.

The only thing that irritated me about the 3oz set was it came with no directions. I had the hardest time trying to figure out how to "attach it" to the bottle.

And then, when it can time to un-attatch I was clueless and just gave up. I ended up calling a friend over - he couldn't figure it out either. We were lost. Finally I figured out who manufactures these things - it was a factory in China.

So, we called the factory and talked to the owner. He was not sure either, but he said he had an engineer coming in later that day, so he asked us to call back.

I called back later and got the engineer on the phone. However, he only spoke Mandarin Chinese. No big deal, I was able to pick that up easy. The engineer consulted the original diagrams that the product's designer drew.

He came up with a theory how I may unattatch it, but said he wasn't 100% sure and he didn't want me to injure myself, my friend, or others in my community.

We hung up with the engineer and pondered his theory. He was right, safety first. We didn't want to hurt anyone, but just the frustration of not being able to solve the problem was really driving my friend and I nuts.

Then, like magic, the phone rang. Turns out it was the inventor / designer of the attach it measuring cup. He got my number from the engineer. Turns out, this fellow only spoke Yiddish in an Easter European dialect. No biggie, I picked that right up. I told him the entire story. He was dumbfounded.

He said, "yes"...he did invent the attach it measuring cup. But, this was the first time ever the concept of "unatachment" came up. He said he mainly designed it for decoration of the bottle upper quadrant and never really intended it to come off or be a useable device.

However, he was able to email me a series of steps that finally did enable me and my partner to get it removed. The email he sent was written in Arabic for some reason, but that wasn't to difficult to figure out. My friend and I were so thrilled we literally jumped for joy. Now, I keep a copy of those steps (still in Arabic) taped to my wall next to my bottles for consultation. Since then, everything has gone smoothly.
