Ordered some new products last week and figured today was the day to test some of them out. I live in So Cal, it doesn't rain but the other day it semi rained, and we had a bizzare, quick come and go dust storm. That + the birds have been especially angry, or happy or whatever the reason they poop overtime. Needless to say my baby needed a wash. I took some pics, but not nearly enough before and after. My previous wash was about 3 weeks ago. It was ONR, Meguiars DUB Wheel Cleaner, Meguiars DUB Tire Shine & Chemical Guys Jetseal 109. I will run down the products I used today and review the ones I feel are worth reviewing.
My baby had a good amount of bird poop, some dirt, some dust, tree sap, and some other stuck on gunk I couldn't identify. There's a constant debate about what's too dirty to use a waterless or rinseless. Well, I've been using ONR for awhile now, but last week I ordered the newer Chemical Guys EcoSmart waterless. It gave me a chance try something new (I use to use the old Ecosmart) and it gave me something to fill in my new beautiful Kwazar 1 liter Venus Pro 360 atomizing sprayer.
Anywho's...
THE PRODUCT LIST:
This is my new Kwazar sprayer, today's the 1st time I've used it but I already <3 it. I wish I had ordered the foaming tip, I plan to as I really am curious what it'll do to the waterless solution. 20 pumps and I was able to do my entire car. I used about 16 oz of solution. Or for all you unlucky enough to not live in America people, 500 milliliters. I plan to order a few more sprayers now that AGO sells them. The build quality imho makes the asking price not so bad. $36 might sound like sticker shock, I mean I paid $29 for a 2 gallon contract sprayer at Lowes. Which is a nice unit, but Kwazar is on another level quality wise. Next up is to buy a foaming tip and see how it works.
When I use to do waterless I always used the Buff & Shine towels. When I moved to rinseless imho they're a bit too heavy when soaked with solution. Now I'm back to waterless I pulled these back out. This is the before, I've probably used them about 40 times, they clean + hold up well.
Shot of the hood, it's a bit fuzzy and the shade is really muting how dirty it is. Sorry but I was too lazy to pull the car out in the blazing sun to get a good pic. You can definitely see dirt and bird poop. The poop hasn't been there long, the bird just decided to have a poopin party a few days ago and my car was the special guest. Yes I let the poop sit 2 days, no I don't think it destroyed my clear coat lol.
I used 1 Buff & Shine towel on my hood and this is how it looked afterwards. The poop and grime came up effortlessly, I believe *hope lol* the Jeatseal was a big part of this. So, I can't exactly comment on how well EcoSmart works on it's own. I will say when I was flipped it over to buff it off, the gray side showed no signs up dirt. Which is a big plus. This might fall under the "too dirty" catagory for many people. I don't know how to gauge, at worst I'll pre soak and use extra towels to be safe.
Even though I just applied JetSeal 109 a few weeks ago I was SO tempted to use Menzerna's Top Inspection so I could see how everything I used today worked on a completely product free car. I didn't though, and almost using something still means you didn't do it. I will say out of all the dozens of detailing products I own I think this bottles one of the best looking. It's weird to hold but I love it and the sprayer + way the nozzle turns feel uber top quality. I wish they offered this in a gallon jug. Back on track.
nasty looking panel, I can hear the "OMG TOO DIRTY FOR ANYTHING BUT 2BM MAAAAN!" I pre-soaked and used all 4 blue folds of the Buff & Shine towel.
IMHO it came out pretty good, the OCD in detailers will see the crap at the bottom, it's some sort of paint or something from driving. I can feel it if I close my eyes and rub it. I want to get it off but not do any damage. Anyone have a suggestion here? I've tried Auto Finesse Citrus Grime Remover which usually works wonders for me. But here? The spots just laughed at me.
Convertible top looking absolutely horrendous. I promise I don't usually let it get this bad, I swear. Blah blah blah! excuses! I'm embarrassed to post this pic lol.
303 TO THE RESCUE!!! I couldn't find the boars hair brush I normally use on the top, so I found this one which I think uhhh I dunno, it was for something else. It worked better to be honest, my boars hair always sheds some bristles. If you've been living under a rock 303 makes awesome products, I <3 their cleaner to DEATH. I know they make one specifically for convertibles, since this is almost empty I might order that next. This stuff works wonderfully. If you don't have it, BUY IT. I used it a few months ago to get 2 week old dried hot chocolate from a light tan carpet. I don't know where hot chocolate ranks on the spot difficulty chart. But I know after a few minutes the spot went from the center piece of the room to completely gone.
The after, I know there are still a few spots, I have to go back and hit it a 2nd time.
Just got this last week and couldn't wait to try it. Blue MF for wiping, orange for buffing.
Now since Blackfire Midnight Sun Carnuba's a new product this is where the actual review part of my post comes in. I JUST finished using it the 1st time so this is my initial impression. I will update this thread in 2-3 days and a week or 2 after that when I've had time to witness it.
Initially - WOW, I love how Carnuba looks, I don't hate applying it, but paste wax is a chore for me I tent to stay away from. As much as I love how it makes my baby shine, I have so many easier to use products that give longer lasting results. This product is EASY to use, maybe I sprayed too much but it still wiped off fast and buffing it was just amazing. My orange Eagle Edgeless was sliding effortlessly. There's no doubt this product is SLICK! If I hadn't put Jetseal on a few weeks ago I was going to use Adam's H20 before this. I'm impressed off the bat with it, if I can get 2 or 3 weeks out of it. It'll stay a part of my detailing arsenal. I have a small roadster and it took me maybe 8 minutes to do the entire car. The SHINE is INCREDIBLE. It definitely looks like something people would assume took you an hour or 2 to achieve. I have a bad color to really make pop, on a black car - I can only imagine. Since the EcoSmart also has Carnuba, maybe my ride has too much Carn00bz now? It sure looks pretty though
AGO doesn't sell either of this products so I won't say much except that towel's freaking phenomenal. I strongly dislike doing windows, and I highly suck at it. I've tried about 10 different glass cleaners. I've tried waffle weave towels, I've tried short nap, medium nap. I've tried funky "glass" ones that I hated. I paid $7 for this one, when I got it and 1st touched it I thought to myself
"CRAP why did I pay $7 for this! WHY the hell's it so expensive?!" It felt literally like a thick paper towel I could rip in 2 without even trying. After I used it once though I fell in love and I sing it's praises. AGO needs to sell something similar to this. It feels cheap and like it probably won't last. Well it's not cheap and they don't fall apart. I own 3 of them and they're maybe my favorite towels.
Long post, here are some after pics, sorry about no similar before. But you saw my hood and my top, yeah it was all about that bad lol.
I used just about 16oz of EsoSmart, honestly I think I used too much (small car) But even if it was about the right amount it's not overly expensive. I will say after just washing it was pretty shinny and looked very clean. Looks like AG sells the old formula. As someone who's used both, the new one's noticably slicker. I used 5 towels on my entire car and don't feel like I introduced any swirls and don't feel like I needed more towels.
