BLACKFIRE Mat Cleaner & Protectant

BF_Mat_001.JPG

What it is?

Floor mat cleaner and protectant.

What it does?

Cleans rubber floor mats and cargo liners AND leaves them conditioned and protected.

When to use it?

On an as-needed-basis. If your mats or cargo liners are dirty - then clean them.

Why to use it?

To maintain a clean looking interior.

From the manufacturer

BLACKFIRE Mat Cleaner & Protectant cleans dirt, grime and minor spills while conditioning, preserving and protecting. This product is pH neutral.

My comments...

This is a new category of product in the industry. The most common question I see asked about this category of product is,

Why not use an all purpose cleaner?

The answer is yes, you can use an all purpose cleaner. You can also use a normal car wash soap. The difference is these two types of products only clean. The BLACKFIRE Mat Cleaner & Protectant mat cleaner and protectant goes the extra step of conditioning, preserving and protecting.

Review

Clean, protected mats add the finishing touch to a clean interior.

This is a very simple and straightforward product and process. The mats were not horribly dirty but looked much cleaner and even like brand new after using the product. I've never used a product of floor mats that goes beyond cleaning so with this product it's doing multiple steps in one action as it also conditions, preserves and protects the rubber surface.

Most people just clean their floor mats and then put them back in the car. It's where your shoes touch down and as such, most people don't give them too much thought or care. That said, people are different and some people really like to be pro-active with the cleaning and preserving of their vehicle, both inside and outside. If this describes you and you think you would like a dedicated mat cleaner and protectant then I recommend you give this product a try.

I was not a big fan of this product. I have used it several times and now after reading this review, figured out that I have been using it wrong!

I guess I’ll use the the correct way and see how I like it.

Below is my review after using it for a year. It's a long-term review.

I bought this product to try over my regular APC a year ago. It was a new product and generally technology and chemistry etc. is better. I've been using the product for the last year and I won't purchase again. If the mats are lightly soiled it works fine, but if your mats are actually dirty it doesn't perform. I pressure washed the mats with soap beforehand, and the product would not remove what was left. I would recommend just using Blackfire APC. One other aspect I noticed is that the "protectant" part did nothing to help make the cleaning process easier the next go around with the same mats and product.

Pros
Leaves behind non-greasy surface cleans lightly soiled mats

Cons
Underperforms
APC works better
Does not clean dirty mats
Does not help with "protecting" to make next round of cleaning easier

Needs to go back to the drawing board and be reformulated

I have a gallon of the old McKess 37 floor liner cleaner & rejuvenator. It does a fantastic job on my truck floor liners. I was looking at the BF once the gallon of 37 is gone. Wonder how the DP version is?

Nice feedback Mike.

I only used this product one time and that was to do the review. To be honest, I think it was Weather Tech that started the dedicated matt cleaning product "catagory" when historically I would use any good APC.

I'll pass your feedback onto the new products development team.

Look how beautiful the vinyl floor is on this truck. This is BLACKFIRE!

In the words of my friend JL, "THAT STUFF IS THE TRUTH"

Check out how beautiful his floor mats turned out.

I love it so much any time I see rubber or WeatherTech floor mats I bust it out completely complimentary. I don't care about selling the package anymore. I want the floor mats to look and be legit!

Nice video. Where did you get the brush or brush adapter for the Flex cordless? Thanks.

Hard to discern between your results and Spidey Mike results though. I guess that’s why I have so many damn products in my hobbyist arsenal. Dang it.

Spidey Mike? Were you referring to Mike Phillips?

I got them from Autogeek. Once you stick the brush on the backing plate I wouldn't reccomend taking it off. It will REALLY be stuck on there.

I have a backing plate and brush dedicated to floor mats and a brush and backing plate dedicated to tires.

Here you go:

Spidey Mike’s post #3 that wasn’t impressed by the BF mat cleaner.

Thanks for the info on the brush!
