Review, Comparison And Testing: Carpro PERL and Ultima Tire And Trim Guard Plus

I have PERL (1:1) on my tires and we went through a few days of rain here in southern California and it's still noticeable. other tire dressings I have used in the past seem to have washed off through the first rain storm. can't say it enough, I really like PERL... :)

Perl ROCKS! This will be my go to dressing.

Here`s a 10 month update. There`s really not much rain here in Phoenix so please keep that in mind.

This update is just for the cowl area.

As you can see, there`s still some dressing left from both products and you can clearly see the difference between the treated vs untreated areas. I was amazed at how much dressing is left that`s why I wanted to post an update. Also, the UTTG side is darker than the PERL side. There`s still some PERL left but you can definitely notice that it`s 50% gone or more. On the other hand, the UTTG side is still going strong. I also did see PERL leave some kind of white residue on trim.

Yes, UTTG was a PITA to apply and felt extremely sticky. I`d say you use more product than typical dressings. And it doesn`t produce a lot of shine when initially applied. But boy oh boy does it last. So if you want a very long lasting dressing on PLASTIC TRIM, I`d highly recommend UTTG. But for tires, I`d recommend PERL.

Wow, interesting. It really sounds like the water-based UTTG is not an improvement in the user-friendly department, but it certainly seems to hold up. I was also kind of shocked at how much dust it attracted on the side skirts.

I still have a lot in my bottle of WETS, so I don't have to worry about this for a while.

Thanks for the update Marc. Great info all the way through.
I can't believe you drove around with the "control" undressed sections on your side skirts and wiper cowl for 10 months. Didn't it drive you nuts to look at those spots? LOL

I was thinking the same thing ! LOL Thanks for doing this review. It doesn't get anymore detailed than this!

Thanks so much for the kind words Brad and srpurdy!!! I really appreciate your compliments and you guys taking time to comment.

LOL!! Yeah it bothered me but this is all for the sake of detailing **cough cough** I mean science! Seriously, I kept it that way for durability testing so I can update you guys. :)
