I kinda did that... My last day in the military was the last day I did a full-face shave. I started growing a beard the day I retired and haven't looked back. I'll still shave my neck to keep things looking neat and professional, but that's it.
I tried a host of razors and shaving creams, but after I discovered old-school safety razors and shaving soap you lather on with a brush about 12 years ago I never looked back. Even today I use that set up on my neck despite it being the only area I shave and I only do it a couple times a week. A tub of soap lasts a year, I the box of Persona Blue blades I bought 6 years ago may last me the rest of my life at the rate I'm using them.
