I decided to purchase some DP Wheel Glaze and try it out (I needed some other DP items and it was BOGO). I have previously used poorboys wheel sealant and have been pleased with it. The DP Wheel glaze is a paste vs the more nattys paste wax consistancy. Easy to apply. Overall happy with the product. I tried it out on 2 wheels and used poorboys on 2 wheels. I will followup with some details between the two in the up coming weeks.

Pros :
Easy application
Smell :)
Provides a nice shine to the wheels

Cons :
Left a powdery dust when removing the product. Had to keep wiping the wheels to remove. An air hose would have worked well to blow off. I may have applied a little to much product. Not a huge con but when comparing to poorboys I get absolutely none of this no matter how much I apply.

Overall I would give it a 4 out of 5 rating :props:

The main thing is durability.

Yea time will tell with that. Poorboys lasts a few wks then needs to be re-coated. If this stuff is anything like the poli-coat it should be very good.

Thanks for the review :xyxthumbs:

I've used the DP wheel glaze once a month for about a year and really like it. I LOVE the shine my rims have after a DP wheel glaze application but it is definitely harder to remove then the PB wheel sealant.

Recently I applied the PB wheel sealant on 3 wheels. I was using UTTGP on the tires and decided to do one of the wheels with it as well so I put it on the 4th wheel. Looking forward to the results!

That will be interesting Corey. I wish you would do a wheel with DG 105 or 501 over 601 and then boost with AW. This combo is a great look and is extremely durable IME.

I forgot to mention the rims are stock 18" aluminum

My order just came in and I'm anxious to give it a try. I'm curious to see how it stands up to washing and tire chemicals.....

like everything about the dp glaze except it finds ways to hide in small cracks and crevices. what a pain. my durability is pretty good about 3 weeks but i constantly want to try others. this is my choice so far.

Try DG 105 over 601 and you will at least double durability IME. Boost with DG AW for even more life.

I am surprised you guys are saying DP Wheel Glaze is harder to remove. I find Wheel Sealant quite difficult to remove, mainly the first coat is tough. Taking the second coat off is easier because the first coat already makes the surface nice and slick.

In any case, I find Smartwax Rimwax so much easier to remove than PB Wheel Sealant, but I would still like to give the DP Wheel Glaze a try.

And I am very certain on my opinion on the removal of Wheel Sealant because I apply two coats every week-end (I always use wheel cleaner during every wash which strips off the Sealant).

if memory serves DP has a light cleaner in it too which might be why its a bit harder to buff off first coat. Also I find alot of times its applied much thicker than needed.

Thats a good point. This is probably the only product that I apply thicker then needed. Not sure why but I just do. Not much thicker but just a little thicker then probably needed. Its a little difficult to put on as thin as I'd like and still be uniform and not keep rubbing in the middle of haze.

You're right on about the cleaner as well.

I think its the pudding like consistency that makes it a bit harder to apply.

DP wheel Glaze is the only wheel sealant i use. The Wolfgang finger pockets are perfect for applying the wheel glaze for a thin even coat. I just barely dab the finger pocket for the coverage needed for each wheel. Also, DP wheel glaze hazes very quickly, that's another reason that it may be a little harder to remove for some of you. It has a little learning curve just like all products ( that learning curve is finding the perfect amount of product to use most of the time), but once you find the "sweet spot" you'll see why it's the only wheel glaze in my arsenal. :props:

i used this wheel glaze a few months ago, and i admit it was a bit tough to remove - i applied it a little too thick i think which i am sure didn't help. this time around, about a month later, it went on easy and came off much easier as well - i assume with it being the second coat it makes life easier, but the first time was pretty difficult.

i am very glad that the dp wheel cleaner didn't strip it off as well - it's as though they thought of that ;)

I've only had trouble one time removing it. It happened after I decided to apply it to all four wheels before removing it from the first. Took a little elbow action to get it off.

Now I simply apply it to one wheel, give it a minute or two then buff off.

For what it's worth my method of application is to use a foam wax applicator and I use the product from the top of the lid ( you don't need much for each wheel), spread, then buff off.

Yeah, I let mine completely haze. All 4 wheels before going back to remove.

This is great stuff. I did not have trouble removing it, but did one wheel at a time.

Well after a week I decided to wipe down the rims. I took a swipe on the lip of the rim, one side poorsboys and the other DP. I cant tell a difference in regards to brake dust coating. They both seem to be identical.

Ryan,

I have these two and wanted to put them to a side by side test so this is good info. Keep us posted on your conclusion. :props:
