Review: DUB Wheel Cleaner

I have never seen the DUB wheel cleaner at my local autoparts store, where do you guys get it from other than AG?

Check pep boys. They carry the full line in my area.

FWIW, Meg's lists the DUB wheel cleaner as having a PH of 7.36. Isn't 'PH balanced' the first buzz word that gets thrown into all comparisons of Sonax vs xxx? For the performance, price, and smell Meguiars has nearly pushed SFE to obsolescence.

Anyone know the long term effect of this type of wheel cleaner on the actual brake pad itself? Can they start eating into the pad? TIA

Thanks for letting me know where to find it Marc, I'm going to get some today!

Please let us know what you think of it! If you had an advanced auto parts local to you, they were on sale for $5 a piece!! Can't beat that.

Your car is very nice BTW! Congrats on obtaining it! She's a beauty!

Thanks Marc and I did in fact hit our local AA and did get in on the salen bought 2 of them! My wifes Mazda 6 will be the test bed tonight. A couple weeks ago the rear brakes needed replacing and the p/s wheel was coated in brake dust as the brakes were "dragging". I managed to clean the wheels but I can still feel "grit" in there, a great test for this productm

Once I use it I will add to your review if you don't mind!

Most definitely not! I'd love to hear your thoughts here. :)

Ok Marc, here's my review:

AWESOME PRODUCT!

Like I said my wifes wheels were dirty and that p/s rear was especially bad with the brake fiasco a couple weeks ago. I cleaned the wheels 5wice since then and they cleaned up but the Meg's DUB REALLY CLEANED THEM! The p/s rear wheel turned all burgendy, really did the job and the other 3 wheel only had a little bit of red. To me anyways the wheels even looked better after drying them too! I should also state I just sprayed it on and DID NOT AGITATE either! I can see where you may need to sometimes as brake dust can bake onto wheels but this stuff should break down just about anything it goes onto, its that good!

I plan on going back to buy 2 more bottles tomorrow, this stuff is TWENTY FIVE PERCENT THE PRICE OF SONUX RIGHT NOW! Not only that but its a 22 oz bottle, isn't Sonux 16 oz? I'm sure Sonux is a great product but from what I've seen, I can't see anyone buying it anymore, even at the regular price its 50% cheaper than Sonux!

I plan on taking this stuff with me to the Dragon as my wheels always get brake dust coated, with this Meg's DUB wheel cleaner, the brake dust doesn't stand a chance!

Thanks again Marc for the heads up on where to buy and the discount at AA!

Awesome review Klasse Act!!! Thanks for sharing with us your findings and how great it worked out for you. I'm happy to hear that it cleaned your wheels more effectively even without agitating the wheel. That just speaks volumes.

My thought too on the price/oz. I believe Sonax is 16.9 oz. (500mL). DUB got me to buy on the price alone, then I actually looked at the product amount of 22 oz. and gave myself another high 5! So for 5 bottles, I have nearly a gallon for $25. First trial for me will be next weekend with a full wheel detail coming in.

Even with the MSRP of $8.99/22oz bottle, it's still a bargain compared to Sonax!

I went to go buy 2 more bottles but they only had 1, so I took it, now I've got 3, well 2 full bottles and the portion I used on my wifes Mazda 6 last night.

A good tip when using this stuff, wash your hands when your done using it, the sprayer dripped a bit onto my hands and the stuff is strong smelling. Actually better yet, use gloves when spraying it on, my PSA for the day;-)

I've seen the DUB cleaner at our local walmart a few days ago, but it's $9/bottle.

What about such versus Carpro Iron-X? Not sure about a price compare of the two, but at least Iron-X can serve double duty on paint and wheels.
Not sure I'd be trusting the DUB product on a paint finish, even though many wheels are painted-coated.

One is for wheels only and the other does both, ok, but here's the thing, you use wheel cleaner on your wheels everytime you wash, you DON'T use IRON-X everytime you wash. Comparing the 2 doesn't make sense to me. That said, DUB wheel cleaner is on sale right now for $5.00, nothing can touch it for that price!

Amazing product for the price. I picked up several for $5 and they've worked great on my vehicles and other slightly dirty wheels I've worked on.

I wanted to try it on the dirtiest wheel I could find and use as little work as possible when it came to scrubbing, so I "cleaned" my father-in-law's wheels. He's never washed his truck as long as I've known him and that's been over 5 years.

Keep in mind, I let it dwell for maybe just a minute and then hit it with a soft brush. I wasn't trying for perfection, just testing cleaning power. It turned purple almost immediately. You can see a little bit of hard caked on brake dust and of course where the wheel weights have etched the rims. I know that I spent under a minute and a half on it total.

Looks like Iron X will stay on my paint while this tackles most wheels.

Jaimz, I think you just sold a couple more bottles for Meg's!!!

I like it a lot, wish they had it in gallon sizes though. I hate going thru a lot of bottles, we push our detailing business as "eco friendly"

I was thinking about trying an empty bottle and see if it will foam other cleaners. I don't have a business so appearances don't matter for me.

I've tried the DUB wheel cleaner in an ECO TOUCH wheel cleaner bottle with great success:thumbup:

Let me bring the hype down just a little bit. I use Dub cleaner first just to see if it'll get all the dust off. 90% of the time, I have to follow-up with sonax full effect or auto finesse iron out to get the job done properly.
