Setup, Method of Application and noted Observations:
I had a bit of a dilemma on getting hold of a car to use this on. Little did I know my buddy and his kids had spent the last few years preparing their SUV for this very situation. Perfect! Thursday I got to work on it. Unfortunately I forgot my camera and being about 30 minutes away from my house I had to use his cell phone for pictures. They came out ok but it was a real let down since the 50/50’s would have been really stunning with the proper camera.
I started by setting up a 4-way test on the drivers side rear seat to get a feel for the cleaning ability of the Leather Masters soft cleaner (LMSC). After taping off an area into 4 sections I cleaned the first section with LMSC. The nozzle of the soft cleaner bottle is built so you can control the release of product.

I placed a few drops onto the sponge and wiped with light circular motions. LM also offers a couple other more aggressive cleaners so I was impressed that the layer of dirt was removed much more easily then I had anticipated. On each of the next 3 sections I used one of the following cleaners: DP-TIC, 1Z-CP, or 1Z-DPC. On this particular seat with this particular soiling I found the following. The LMSC cleaned the surface a little more easily then the DP-TIC. The LMSC was about equal with the 1Z-CP as far as ease and speed of cleaning but seemed to get the seat just a hair cleaner. (Not enough of a difference that you would notice in a normal situation). The 1Z-DPC seemed to be quite similar in its cleaning ability on these seats as well. After completing that test I removed the tape.

I continued to clean the entire vehicles seating including all sides of each seat and the door panels. I should have gotten some before/after pictures of the door panels but hadn’t originally planned on doing them. I’ll just say the difference was night and day. There was some kind of blue staining on the front passenger seat along with the regular buildup. All of this came off with ease.

The LM protectant is to be applied after the cleaned area is dry. It has the same control nozzle on the top of bottle and I was able to apply a few drops at a time to a clean side of sponge before applying it to one of the rear seats. On this vehicle I didn’t apply the protectant across the entire vehicle but I did use it enough to get a feel for it. It didn’t seem to add any gloss or a different look to the cleaned seats (That’s a good thing). The feel was just slightly different but not slippery. If I hadn’t felt them right next to each other I may not have noticed a difference.
My friend was obviously very happy with the look of his interior and his wife mentioned next time I need a test vehicle her Nissan Armada awaits…
As a secondary “quick test” the following day I tried some LMSC on another vehicle. Cleaning did not come as easy that time around. You can see a little more on that in the “Final Observations and Summary”.
I also pulled out the Leather Masters Ink Remover for a test. Since I didn’t have any ink stains I decided I would have to make some. I did 3 different tests. The first time around the ink was removed incredibly easy! The second time around I was videotaping but was interrupted. The 3rd time around I videotaped the whole thing. This time the ink didn’t come out quite as quickly but it was still very effective. I was a little handicapped trying to operate the camera at the same time. The previous night I had used some LM Protectant on one area of the seat. I scribbled some ink on that side. On the side that had not received the protectant I also scribbled some ink. The protected side did indeed release the ink a little easier. This stuff is a serious cleaner and even removed some of the pigment/dye. After cleaning with the ink remover you should go back over the area with the LMSC to remove any trace of the ink remover residue. The ink remover doesn’t seem to have any scent but it’s very strong and you would be wise to keep it off your skin and keep the area ventilated. After cleaning the ink stained area I found something very interesting. The cardboard hard leather was softer in that area then with any product I’ve used on it in the past.

Pros:
1.- Kit contains everything you need to care for either Aniline or Protected leather

2.- Antibacterial Water Based Cleaner
3.- Looks great and removes that shine from the dirt worn leather finish (See picture 20)
4.- Not much product is needed (It goes a long way if you’re careful)
5.- Easy application
6.- Dry to the touch and not at all slippery
7 – Ink remover is incredible!

Cons:
1.- I can’t come up with any

???:
1.- Don’t google Leather Masters…

Final Observations and Summary:
I was really surprised at how well the soft cleaner cleaned up the first vehicle. There are a couple more aggressive cleaners offered by Leather Masters so I didn’t expect this one to work as well as it did. When I did a quick test on the leather of one of our vehicles it didn’t clean as easily or thoroughly. I can only assume the dirt on our vehicles leather was ground in deeper and requires one of the more aggressive cleaners. Also the material type is a little different and may certainly have been a factor. If it says anything I definitely recommend the LM soft leather cleaner and will be using it on Sky in the future. If you deal with varying degrees and types of dirt buildup you may want to get a more aggressive cleaner as well.
The protection cream is a good product and doesn’t leave a slippery feeling to the leather. I really like it and recommend it as well. Personally I love my UIGP and prefer it for tactile feel and protection of finished leather.
The ink remover is incredible and has no trouble removing ink easily. Note that it is very strong and therefore you should test it on an inconspicuous area first. The ink remover is a whole new tool for my arsenal and I love it!

As always Corey, absolutely outstanding review! You are bar none the "Review Master". Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such a thorough review. We appreciate it very much. Can't wait to try the LM, glad to hear it is such a great product.

This was my favorite part. I laughed so hard... ???:

Great review as always Corey. I am surprised that there are any unclean surfaces in any of your vehicles that have not been tested.

Great review! Ink remover will be a must have. Just a side question though were you using a respirator? You sounded like dark vader!

Yeah, that was my first thought too! Corey , you went above & beyond when you CREATED ink stains. Glad the stuff works! I still gotta break out the Ultima. I havent tried it yet. AS alwayys a great review. Glad M&M are sending you new products to review. Many of us spend after reading your reviews!

Awesome review Corey! I am really tempted to pick this stuff up and give it a try.

Oh and always, awesome review!!!

Thank you Tad!
I thought you'd like that part. Maybe you could wholesale some elk skin "garments" to them and open another market for them. Im the MAN

Great review as always Corey. I am surprised that there are any unclean surfaces in any of your vehicles that have not been tested.

Thank you Jon. Thats why I was glad my friend had a car that I could use. There wasn't much I could do with what I have left.

Great review! Ink remover will be a must have. Just a side question though were you using a respirator? You sounded like dark vader!

Thank you! "Luke, I am your father" I noticed that too. I just had my face too close to the mic. I realized it as I was taping but didn't want to keep scribbling ink on my leather for another take.

Thank you Jim!! My wife was looking over my shoulder when I was putting together the review pictures. She says to me "Did you just scribble ink on my seats!?":laughing::laughing:
I guess I had some faith it would work! The first test I did was actually near an edge and was a straight line not so conspicuous. Thanks again!

Awesome review Corey! I am really tempted to pick this stuff up and give it a try.

Thank you Jon! It's great stuff and will be my go to leather cleaner for my Sky now. I should reiterate I think the soft cleaner worked deceptively well in the first test. It was really easy but I don't think the soft cleaner works like that on dirty leather usually. For dealing with real dirty leather like that I would keep another option available. Maybe one of the more aggressive LM cleaners. Ank mentioned he's been using LM for awhile and found the same that I did. A lot of the seats he deals with require one of the more aggressive LM cleaners.

Great review, thanks. You are quite gutsy with the ink test, no way would I have tried that without it being on a scrap leather. Even the first test spot, yikes! Lol

There really isn't anything as nice as clean supple leather, what a great look and the 50/50 pics really show that detail, its amazing how shiney it can get when its soiled.

Did you notice any lingering smells afterwards, or did I miss reading that?

Unfortunately I kind of screwed that up by the cleaning test I did at the beginning... Introduced a few different smells that might have botched the answer to your question. From what I could tell it just smells a lot fresher in the car. Nothing bad or strong at all. Note the cleaner is an antibacterial so that should help as well. As soon as I use it on the Sky I will be sure to update with "after scent" info.

Great thanks. Seems lately that my shelves are holding more leather products than paint correction products. Lol so I might be adding this one too depending on Sky's outcome. :)

I guess I will add this stuff too. Thanks for the excellent review Corey.

Another great review.

It was nice to see that other products have nearly equal cleaning ability. The ink removal product seems like a must have.

I had used a sample of the Protection Cream and it did not leave the seat slippery. In fact, it left it with no slipperiness so you did feel more friction when sliding into the seat.

Corey, can you top the leather with UIGP after a full treatment of Leather Masters?

Wow, and thanks for the excellent review Corey!

I am really tempted to add this to the arsenal. Looks like it did quite the job!

Awesome review Corey. Your reviews are always very thorough and on point. Seems like a great product.

Thanks for doing the review!!!:xyxthumbs:

Great review!!! Is this product only limited to "car use" or can you use it in the home, provided it is the proper leather (not suede or whatever else it shouldn't be used on).

Corey, can you top the leather with UIGP after a full treatment of Leather Masters?

You could but I don't think you would find any benefit in that. I would say the UIGP would probably remove the protection cream and the protection cream would probably compromise the UIGP. I didn't test that but wouldn't recommend it. (I'm assuming we would discover something similar to when I applied UTTG over PBTR)
With UIGP you want to apply to a clean dry surface with nothing in the way.

Wow, and thanks for the excellent review Corey!

I am really tempted to add this to the arsenal. Looks like it did quite the job!

Thank you sir! Keep the more aggressive LM cleaners in mind as well depending on your needs.

Thanks Tesla! It's funny you should ask that. From what I understand Leather Masters was used and recomended by furniture manufacturers before they moved into the auto interior market. This cleaner and protectant can be used on protected or aniline leather furniture.

It looks like it did such a good job + the fact that you can use it on aniline leather in the home makes this product look like a no brainer.

I think I'll have to take the plunge.

Nice review Corey. I was planning on picking leather rejuvenator for my bimmer and now you've peaked my interest.

Would you recommend Leather Master or leather rejuvenator?
