Hello my fellow Autogeeks! I am gonna give it a shot at my first review so lets try and be nice! ;)

Well, I am fairly new to detailing and currently have many many products/tools that I have acquired over this short period of time! I am still currently in the process of figuring out which products, in combination with which tools, work best for me and my applications. Not long ago I bit the bullet and purchased a liter of Menzerna Fast Gloss Compound to try out and let me tell you I have been thoroughly impressed! I have only had experience with M105 and Megs UC prior to using FG400 so this is what I will be comparing it to! Here we go:

Menzerna Fast Gloss Compound aka FG400

PROS:

- Long work time
- Very little (if any) dusting
- Fast cut
- LSP ready (Judging by my first test on a light colored vehicle)

CONS:

- Price!

On to the test subject! It is a 2007 Subaru Impreza in Crystal Grey Metallic. My brother owns this car and it was vandalized by his EX girlfriend! Apparently she was upset that he wouldn't drive her to a party so she went outside and carved a rather kind name into his hood with her key! When he found what had happened to his hood, he got what looks to be steel wool, and began to scrape the key marks in hopes that they would be removed!
Well, he has been driving around like this for awhile, and I finally had some spare time so I figured this couldn't be a better time to try out my new compound! On to the pics...

Conclusion:

Keep in mind, I wasn't expecting a hug turn-around on this area of the hood, nor was I going for 100% correction. I mainly wanted to test the ability of the product and my hopes were that it would make this vulgar word less noticeable lol... It delivered. This entire area was 125 micron +/- so I didn't continue compounding after I saw how much the apearance had improved after this test! My bro was more than happy and so was I!

Like I said, I am very impressed with how well this compound cut and finished out in comparison to M105. IMO, M105 cut quicker but the amount of dust and haze that I got after working M105, made me start looking for another product! I definitely found THE product, FG400! I am so happy with my results and the ease of use! These scratches were very bad and I honestly didn't expect too much out of this compound! Being that it is a DAT compound and all, I figured it would do well but I was shocked to see these results! Considering his car is such a light color, I believe it could have aided in the "look" of it's finishing ability. Also, a camera phone only does so much in capturing the actual look and damage on such a light color. Taking that into consideration, I will try and see how things turn out on darker colored cars and will keep you all updated! The only downside to this compound that I see is its price! I'm sure many aren't ready to fork over $50 for a Liter of this stuff, but I have to say i'm glad that I did! Most likely in the near future I will be purchasing a gallon to save some $$! No doubt about it, I will most definitely make this a staple in my cabinet for a quick, easy to use, and sweet finishing compound! I can't wait to use this stuff in door cups by hand!

I hope you all enjoyed! :dblthumb2:

Nice job! It's amazing what the right combination of products can do.

Great review! Can't wait to use my FG400, have a scratch on my car and this will be the product to try out.

Plan B is 3000 unigrit.

Great review! Very well explained and pictured. Seems like a possible winner to me.:dblthumb2:

I use FG400 weekly and its my go to product. The price is not really a con its the same price as all their other compounds. For $48 I still have my same bottle after doing 9 cars and I have made my money back 10 times.

Nice review of an outstanding product.

I too moved on to the FG400 after using M105. M105 is too much of a hassle to reap the benefits of more cut. I will trade a slightly lower cut of FG400 and the BEST user friendly experiance compared to the hassle M105 gives you for more cut.

FG400 is a fantastic product and works extremely well on BMW paint. I use FG400, M100, M101 mainly now. M105 has been obsoleted permanently.

Great review! Sorry for what happened to the car. "Hell has no fury like a woman scorned"

Nice rescue! Much, MUCH better than before. :props:

Wow...really? "####" on your man's car for not getting a ride? Sounds like a classic case of projection.

I, too, have a CGM Subie. I'd go the plasti dip route to hide the ugly before settling with the gentle steel wool. lol

Pureshine - That's an excellent perspective of cost vs outcome. :xyxthumbs:

smack - You owned Jet Black vehicles. When owners of said pigment made recommendations, one can't help but to pay close attention. :xyxthumbs:

Women are crazy, no wonder some men eventually snap. Great work by the way!
Crazy isn't it? Thank you sir!
Nice job! It's amazing what the right combination of products can do.
It really is! I'm very happy with my decision to pick up a bottle of FG400! Thank you!

I honestly thought I was going to have to pull out my Uni-Grit papers as well! If I wanted to get out the rest of those deep key marks then I would pull out the Uni-Grit but my brother trashes his car and doesn't really take care of it, so taking those deeper scratches out (if it's even possible) would be pointless! You'll be happy once you break out your FG400 i'm sure!
Nice job, Beach!!! :dblthumb2:
Thank you 5.0!

Lol! I don't think I completely agree but I appreciate the huge compliment!

I guess I should've worded that better because I can't agree with you more! I don't mind one bit paying X amount of money for a product that works so well, and for a product I know can deliver exactly what i'm looking for. What I meant was, it could possibly be a Con for some people that cannot justify spending $50 for FG400 when they get the same results using a cheaper compound. That is the only Con I can come up with!

I will be trying out M101 next, before I spend the money on a whole Gallon of FG400. Can you share your experience with M101 in comparison to FG400 for me? I am very interested to hear what you like/dislike about it!

Thank you SonOfOC! The car survived! So we're good! lol
Good work! Looks like I need to add this to my arsenal.
I agree that you should! Thank you!

Thanks Brutal! Ridiculous isn't it?! Lol!
He obviously doesn't know a thing about car care to break out the steel wool on the hood! He purchased the car brand new, and it still hasn't seen a drop of wax for protection! So sad! What soobie do you have? I have an '11 Sti that I love dearly. I love a well taken care of CGM when I see one! ;)
Very nice review! Loved the write up and pictures.
Thank you Marc!

Oh, nothing fancy. Just your average '06 Forester. Thanks for asking.

Showed the wife this thread. I told her if I catch her or her sisters do this to my wagon - *throat slash gesture* She lol'd.

Looks like an awesome product. Right now my car doesn't need a compound level polish, but in a few years I might and I'll certainly try this.

I'm amazed that the damage didn't penetrate the color coat as well. Menzerna FG400 appears to be a quality product that works quite well.

Well done! :props:
