Back in November I ordered the 16oz Menzerna SF-4000. After using some Menzerna products my uncle had on his truck I was impressed and figured why not try out this polish. I finally got around to trying it out on a test spot on my 2002 Ford Explorer. The car has been a daily driver since my parents bought it back in 2001. The car is in pretty good shape for an almost 12 year old car. The paint has some minor swirls and RIDs here and there so I figured I would try to knock some of them out. I washed with RFEW and clayed the door I worked on with Meguiar's white clay. I used M105 on a Meguiar's MF cutting disc and followed that up with the SF-4000 on a white LC hybrid pad on my GG6.

After about 6 passes with M105 on the MF disc on speed 4, I was satisfied and moved on to the SF-4000. The M105 left the paint glossier than it had been however it was still a little dull and was lacking that pop I was after. I got out a new LC white hybrid polishing pad and primed it and got to work. I went with speed 3 and about 6 passes with the SF-4000. The polish did not dust and wiped off with ease. The gloss was noticeably better than surrounding panels with much more depth in the paint, and the slickness was very good. I then applied DJ Banana Armour.

The Menzerna SF-4000 is a very good polish that has just enough cut to follow up a compound like M105, and still leave behind that nice gloss with deep reflections. The fact that the polish does not dust and wipes off with ease is also a huge plus. At a price point of 29.99 (at Autogeek) for the 16oz it is a bit pricey, especially when a quart of M205 can be had for under 25. However it is a good polish and the price should not take away from how well it works.

Below are pictures I took along the way, with my iPhone. I apologize that they may lack light but it was cloudy as I was working and I do not know when I will get another chance to polish anytime soon with this crazy weather.

Nice work! Love using SF4000 to clean and amp up the shine on good condition paint.

Menzerna SF 4000 is a beautiful polish that has a decent cut but finishes out like glass. I generally use it with a white foam pad and finish up with a gray and bump the speed down a bit....:props:

thanks bobby. I was actually planning to use white and then finish up with gray but I never got around to ordering extra pads lol. Had to make do with what I had, but I am definitely going to keep that in mind for the next time.

Thank you for the excellent review.

Price not withstanding, do you prefer M105/M205 combo over M105/Menz?

Well to me it seems as if menzerna had more gloss and finished better than the 205 but id honestly have to do a side by side. Something else I want to try is follow 205 up with the menzerna and see how that compares. However I would probably choose the menzerna over 205.

For those that already have Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0....its essentially the same product.

Bobby, would this method only be used for a rotary? Would it make a difference to do the same thing you explained with a da?
Thank you

Hi Bobby, quick question for you (or anyone else!),

Would it be beneficial to use SF4000 on a white LC pad and instead of following up with 4000 on a grey LC finishing pad, follow up with SF4500 with the finishing pad? Would this give more gloss (or at least equal gloss) with less cut to preserve as much clear coat as possible?

Thanks for the follow ups!

I actually was looking to try fg400 after I finish up my m105. What do you like better about it?
I'll chime in, FG400 immensely has less dust. And honestly I polished today and noticed no difference between FG400 and FG400 followed by SF4000, the SF4000 cleaned it up a bit but no more than an Eraser wipedown.

Nice review- I might have to pick up some Menzerna since I was pretty underwhelmed with M105/205.

SF 4000 is also known as WolfGang Finishing Glaze 3.0, and can be purchased in a 8oz bottle.

What other Wolfgang products are the same or equivalent to Menzerna products?

Who makes BFWD and WG sealant? Are those also made by Menzerna and similar to powerlock?

By the way, the reason I'm asking is not to avoid one brand or the other. I just don't want to go wasting money on two different brands of product that are identical or functionally equivalent. Maybe this deserves its own thread?

Could I use a black llc ccs pad with menz 4500?? Would that give a better finish??
