Review of Griot's Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax

How is the Gloss Poly Wax do in the self cleaning category? I've been very impressed with how clean my car stays with FK1000, but I don't really enjoy applying a paste wax. But, after a heavy rain the car looks almost like it's just been washed.

Bird bomb protection with the FK1000 is also outstanding, but would like to hear how the Gloss Poly Wax performs in this category as well.

I did a white car a couple weeks ago with it. I'll have to take a look after some hard rains today to see how it looks - usually it gets those ugly "cry" marks under the door handles really easily.

Hey All

So read through some of the comments. Having the coolest job in the World, being a product developer for Griots Garage exposes you to countless competitive formulas. As a detailer, using product is part of what we do... so many exceptional options today. You all are so fortunate. As we develop a product, we assess the market to identify the very best performing products in the category. Like all Griot's Garage formulas, this was developed from scratch. We identify all the performance characteristics we know users (Do it yourself to Do it for me) and begin formulating. Countless iterations of formulas are meticulously evaluated. Multiple testers. Multiple environments. Multiple surfaces.

So proud of this formula. With humility, I'd sincerely say with confidence.... this will outperform most, if not all the Synthetic waxes (Amino Functional Silicones) on the market. Why would I say that.... because we test them all and validate we outperform them. If we don't, it doesn't go in a bottle... period.

Poly Wax is non-abrasive. So it should dry clear on trim, etc. applying any more than 2-3 coats of "film- forming sealants like this only makes us money. In other words, the only reason you'd want to do that is if you just love rubbing on your vehicle. Look up "law of diminishing returns".... In testing, this formula exhibited one of the easiest on / easiest off, deepest, darkest shine, along with exceptional protection.

Please let me know if you've got any questions. As for application. You could apply and let dry on the surface over night if you want. It'll still wipe off in one pass.

thanks for chiming in jeff, hope all is well with you and the GG family! :dblthumb2:

Thank you Jeff. What is your recommendation for maintaining the poly wax for the Chicago winter?

Good question, referring to proper maintenance.

I live in Minnesota and face some tough winters. I have the fortunate ability to wash my vehicles in my heated garage. I typically wash at least once a week with a good pH balanced wash like Brilliant Finish Car Wash. in between washing, I'll remove salt with Spray On Car Wash or a Rinseless Wash. The GG Spray On Wax can be mister on following a wash, prior to drying. This will too the Poly Wax with a Carnauba Protection, enhancing gloss and maintaining protection

Stay safe this Winter

Snapped a few pics of the car I applied this on 2.5 weeks ago. Been driven and parked outside daily and it has rained a couple times. Sorry for cell phone quality pics - just wanted to quickly demonstrate how glossy it still looks and how clean it has stayed. Compare the paint to the windshield.

Hello everyone,

Today I want to share my recent experience with Griot's Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax. I first saw the product on Auto Geek, but initially thought it was not worthwhile - it's just another sealant. After hearing positive buzz about the product on the Auto Geek forum I decided to try it out.

My black Challenger was the first subject on which I tested. The Poly Wax applied smoothly with my Flex 3401 and it removed off of each surface with minor effort. As a bonus, the sealant smells like Christmas! That may be an odd simile, but it sticks.

The result of the first application was good, by which I mean similar to other top-tier sealants (in my book) such as Wolfgang Deep Gloss 3.0 and Jescar PowerLock.

Fast toward a bit and I ended up using Poly Wax on a few customers' vehicles with no complaints or issues. Great!

My wife has a 2006 Ford Taurus with paintwork that shows signs of its end of life, such as haziness, cracking, brittleness, and whatever else one may think of. In addition, the car is the victim of multiple hail storms and it only gets washed and "detailed" very infrequently. The car sits outside 24/7 and contends with a neighborhood of stubborn trees that like to have their way (that means a filthy vehicle).

Approximately five months ago, with almost no daylight to spare, I hurriedly performed a waterless wash on all of the exterior surfaces of the Taurus with D114. Afterward I decided to apply Poly Wax to the paintwork with what I had on hand - a microfiber applicator. The sealant didn't perform miracles, such as replacing haziness with clarity, but that is not expected with a product whose purpose is to protect the paint's finish.

Now, here comes the fun part! After all this time my wife's Taurus has not been washed, clayed, re-sealed, or otherwise cleaned since I last touched it many months ago. Below is a testimonial to the endurance of Griot's Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax, even on a car that suffers so much neglect.

I will summarize my experience with a single interjection. Wow!

This product earns a 5/5 from me in the categories of ease of application, removal, overall look and feel, and especially durability. I normally don't care about water beading, but it was mighty cool to see such a characteristic of five-month-old sealant.
