Review of the New Hydro-Tech 6.5" Pads

I have to agree, the Hydro-Tech Pads are awesomeness. Menzerna SIP, Cyan Pad, & PC7424 finished LSP ready on my Dark Gray Metallic Subaru trunk lid. I followed up with Menzerna 106FA, Tangerine Pad, & Flex 3401 and I noticed absolutely no difference in the finish and the gloss.

After doing my entire Subaru, I immediately ordered a few more Hydro-Tech Pads.

That was a very well presented and informative review. I will definitely try some of these pads when the time comes to order nes pads. :dblthumb2:
Thanks, I think you will like them

WOW! That is a really good review.

I love that picture of the Wolfgang products sitting ontop of the microfiber.

Those new HT pads sound really good.

I was debating what pads to include in my order, but I think I may have to go with some HT pads for the polishing, and maybe 2 or 3 finishing CCS pads.

Nice work!
Thanks!

Thanks for the review. Spot on!

If I may add my own experience, I'd say the Cyan besides looking stiffer does not haze the paint at all.
I was expecting to behave like the yellow CCS pads, but the truth is, it finishes great. Zero haze!!!

Another thing I noticed right away is that the pad stays firm under load and heat. I've used other orange foam pads and they tend to soften up after a few passes. They tend to collapse a little if you will, sorta like get a soft spongy feel.
The Cyan pads stay firm no matter how much pressure you put on, and they STAY COOL, they do not heat up as much as other pads I've used. I like them so much, I ordered some more. Good bye orange pads! :props:

As for the Tangerine, I have them, but haven't used them yet
Totally agree with everything you said, Thanks for adding to the thread!!

Awesome write up....:xyxthumbs:
Thanks Sparkie!

One odd note (to me anyway) was that the Tangerine Pad in the HT line was stiffer to the touch than the Cyan pad. In the CCs pads it seemed the denser the foam the more cut, If I used these right the Blue (CYAN) was softer yet it is meant to be more aggressive. That being said I did not have any issue with the Cyan not cutting or the Tangerine not polishing out well. This paint was in major need and both the CCS and the HT pads preformed flawlessly (except that the CCS pads are out of round and a little harder to control close to edges because of it).
I too noticed an odd firmness comparison between the Hydrotech Blue and the ccs blue thinking the color coding was the same but I looked again and the color coding isn't the same. The ccs blue pad is the agreesive one but the hydrothech blue has no cutting power.

Is this backwards?

yes it is and is incorrect...

Blue Finessing Foam - This blue foam pad has soft composition for applying glaze, finishing polish, sealants, and liquid waxes. The soft pad has no cut, making it perfect for applying nonabrasive products evenly.

Cyan Advanced Cutting Foam - The blue foam is designed for compounding and swirl removal. This closed cell pre-polymer foam restores oxidized and heavily swirled paint. Looks can be deceiving; the blue pad looks coarse but actually finishes with no marring. You'll achieve an almost wax-ready finish in one step. That's another way the Lake Country Hydro-Tech 6.5 Inch Foam Pads save you time.

So according to the description "almost wax-ready finish" or should I finish down with the tangerine pad?

The cyan can finish down very well. There is a school of though that says a final polish always needs to be done, but in the real world it's not always possible due to time or customer finances. It's would be best to finish down with a Tangerine, but you can get a very nice finish with the cyan that most would consider LSP ready.

Probably would want to use tangerine on dark colored cars
