So I was chosen to perform a review on a free sample pack of the Uro-Tech pads for long throw polishers. First off, my normal polisher is a Flex with Hybrid pads. I felt it fair to test my normal setup with the Rupes/Uro-tech pads. For this detail on a new Charger police package I tested both the red and blue pads to compare against my normal one step polish prior to applying a coating or sealant. Car came to me with 3800 miles, most washes are done by trustees so you can imagine the paint work. Now, you are probably going to ask why did they pick a coating? Well they keep cars on average two years, the coating applied was IGL Kenzo which should last 4 under normal conditions. Since the coating will be tested pretty heavily, the driver opted for 4 years hoping to get 2 years out of it. Next you are still going to ask, well, still, knowing its going to get beaten, why pay. Well, the Sheriff washes his car twice a day, the Lt. WANTS clean cars so knowing how easily a coated car can be washed, he is saving himself the butt-ache of hearing someone say something about his car. (no tax payer money involved, out of Deputies pocket.) This is also the 4th car he has had coated, previous vehicles, an Excursion, Expedition and Chrysler 200, so he enjoys coated cars! On to the work.

Car wash, decon and wheels and tires were cleaned Nothing special, no need to type out everything. On to the paint:

Trunk area:

The trunk area would be my testing ground. Typically on the Dodge paints I use Menz 2500 on a white hybrid pad with the Flex set to a tad under 5. I run about 4 passes with good results. Same held true with this. I also tested the RED Uro-tech pad on a rupes, speed 4 same compound and passes:

It DID clean defects up, not as well as the white hybrid pad. The pad never stopped rotating on the trunk edge or any other areas I typically saw with the Rupes and other pads. The red pad is marketed as a heavy polishing pad. The white hybrid is marketed as a polishing pad. I did like how well the Rupes ran with the red pad, just wish it cleaned up more than it did considering how it was labelled.

White pad side is top, red is the bottom:

Next I fired up the blue pad looking for more cut, which it sure did. However it did it with the typical Rupes blue pad of slinging product. It did a FANTASTIC job of cleaning up defects. No haze left behind either:

For comparison, here is the white hybrid side:

Pretty much on par! I will say I went back to using my Flex for the rest of the car, one blue pad was not going to get the whole car done. However I will say they are a great alternative to the Rupes pads but I do find they may not be listed as having the correct cutting power. Had I not tested and just ordered a dozen red pads expecting them to cut like my white's I would have been disappointed! That's not to say I won't be ordering some blues to keep for use with my underused Rupes.

So for the rest of the car it was polished, cleaned with IGL precoat and coated with Kenzo, tires were coated with TW Endura-shine, the river store had it down to $9 a box so I ordered 10 :) Here is the car getting baked under IR lights:

Job all done:

I did like the pads, and thank you for allowing me to test them out, I think anyone having issues with stalling on their first gen Rupes should look into these!!
