Corey, Sky Baby looks like a jewel. Great review again.
Over the past couple of years I found that I prefer Optimum Car Wash to Ultima, Duragloss, Megs Gold Class, Megs Mirror Glaze, OG Blue 88 and a few other car washes. I seem to be an Optimum fan overall, but I still use a lot of different manufacturers products. 1/2 oz Optimum car wash/gallon is fine when I make up car wash with soft water.
I have yet to try DP, Pinnacle, Wolfgang, P21 and Sonax car washes. I was thinking about the DP BOGO and have it in my cart. Should I stick with Optimum or try the DP?
DR G really knows car finishes, and it shows in the products his team develops.
Interesting find, Bill. I find that Ultima shampoo dries my skin. I guess each persons body chemistry reacts differently to different products and the chemicals in them.
Not trying to steal the thread.
Otherwise, Optimum goes into the cart and the DP is kicked to the side of the road. Well maybe I will order a sample instead but I really want to try the DP tire dressing.

Why not get both and do a side by side review. I have used plenty of soaps and in the end they all are usually good enough. It gets down to how much you like a scent, suds, richness feeling (pseudo lubricity, not sure that translates to anything), mid-point cost, and added gloss.
I like Optimum because it is smells nice, seems to clean well, holds up suds even doing wheels (should indicate amount of cleaning), not intended to leave added gloss, and cost effective at 0.5 oz per gallon. I use other soaps regularly as well but I am not into more expensive soaps (cost per 3 gallons wash).
Whoa!! The last skybaby pic is epic!!!
Great review :xyxthumbs:
How can I compare to Corey's reviews? He's the man!rops:
You're right. Most of these car washes work pretty well but there can be subtle differences. I like Optimum for the same reasons. I seem to get a certain sparkle with Optimum.
With Duragloss, I got a more of a coated, glow look which worked really well with my wife's champagne beige BMW wagon. I didn't like it as well with our alpine white 528iT which really needs a crystal clean look IMO.
I guess that I can pick up some of the DP and let my suse it if I don't really like it. Thanks for the push.
Dear Corey -
I tried out OCW again tonight, cleaning off the wife's car after 2,000 miles of driving, and hitting so many bugs the front of the car was mostly yellow.
I must say OCW does indeed dry my skin out, but holy cow is it powerful stuff!!! Bugs and tar just slide off. I have stopped using a dedicated wheel cleaner, and just some OCW in a bucket.
Lastly, and what inspired me to post tonight ... I was cleaning up, coiling the hoses and rinsing the buckets when I saw on my driveway piles of thick suds. I have not experienced this sort of behavior with any other car wash I have used.
In short, thank you for introducing me to OCW and convincing me to try it out.
